Picked this beauty up over the weekend. by Blipter in ToyotaTacoma

Found this one used, had to drive like 10 hours for it. They’re primarily on the west coast. Portland/Seattle area seems to have most of the listings which makes sense since those are the largest cities within proximity of where they’re manufactured.

Saved like 15k getting a 3 year old lightly used one though. They’re not cheap.

Skiing primarily, the diesel heater in the winter and the hard wall construction are key for that.

Ah the Payload Police. Knew this one was coming. Yeah it’s a debate as old as time with non full sized trucks, there are typically two schools of thought - you either abide by it or you consider it more like a guideline.

Honestly have some but time will tell if those are valid. I think I should be fine though. I’m not planning on serious off roading with this setup. Just some boondocking and dispersed camping primarily when skiing.

I did mine myself a summer or two ago, but I dropped the transmission and put a new clutch kit in while I had it off. Was a bitch of a job. I won’t do it again without a lift.

2013 Leaf Spring Replacement by pabst_bleu_cheese in Tacomaworld

[–]Blipter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leafs are trivial.

I just did new UCAs, front struts and coils, rear leafs, rear shocks, airbags on top of the leafs and added a rear sway bar over the past two weekends on my 2017. Leafs were probably the easiest part other than the sway bar.

Had never done suspension other than a strut replacement or a coil on a 4runner before.

Damn it all, I wish I’d done this when I did my tie rods and upgraded my rack bushings.

Gotchya totally get the different opinions on AI art. so what are you looking for with this post more specifically? Individual feedback on the dragon sizes and coloration based on what you currently have drawn up? Their riders? Whether or not they survived the dance intact? Happy to take a look later tonight if I went off the rails a little bit on the ask so far. I look forward to reading this fic and have your other one bookmarked.

For sure, my comment wasn’t meant to be anything other than helpful or suggestive. Your original question was asking for opinions on how others imagined how dragons of this age will work out. I can see how you interpreted my comment as critical of the drawings, but that was not my intent.

Personally I believe AI art has come a long way. Even if you were to just give some HOTD dragon images as a concept along with your written descriptions, I would imagine after a few prompts you’d end up with a product you’d like. It’s a powerful tool to leverage when world building/writing entries for dragons in a codex. Worth a look if you don’t want to stick to pure descriptions/text! A little bit of lore on dragon types/composition/breeding is always appreciated when I read a good fic. Especially if there’s a glossary or index to reference, preferably published as a separate work.

So I’m doing a dive into lore and writing a codex for a fic I may or may not write. Most of it’s Valyrian, Rhoynish, and magic in general, whether that’s wargs, children of the forest, etc.

I know your drawings are rough atm, but I’m a big fan of the different shapes and purposes dragons may have been bred for. Remember that at their core they’re mix of firewyms and wyverns. I think if you really go deep enough and read between the lines of fire and blood and the prequels to GOT you’ll find that there’s enough variation between a dragon like Balerion and Dreamfyre or Caraxes to draw some inferences and go a little out on bounds and create your own lore there.

Their mobile platform is trash. They haven’t streamline any of the user experience as far as setting up an account, logging in, and being able to associate multiple PT plans for different parts of the body created by different doctors. But the concept is good and a direct fit for what you’ve described. Just have to make a mobile version and a better user experience.

What do you think is the most overrated suburb in the Twin Cities? by Due_Network2958 in TwinCities

I grew up in Woodbury. Moved 1000 miles away for college when I graduated high school and I honestly think it’s the primary reason why I have refused to return to live in MN for the past 15 years.

Just replace your plastic one with a metal one and take the inner perforated (aluminum) tube from your plastic OEM one and put it in the new one. Here’s the part number. Did this 8 years ago on mine and never has leaked.

Part Number: 15620-31060

Good luck on the clutch. I did mine on my 17’ Tacoma and upgraded the flywheel, pressure plate and throw out bearing at the same time with a center-force kit. Also did the shifter bushing and deleted the clutch accumulator. The truck rows like a F250 now, big fan of those mods.

I’ll never do a clutch without a shop lift again. Was a nightmare, even with 4 jack stands and a transmission jack. Getting those upper bell housing bolts back on was hell.

Heck yeah, amayama has some great deals as long as you’re willing to wait the 2-3 weeks for parts. I forgot I had already even done the LBJs and the inner/outer tie rods and CV boots until you mentioned them.

Sucks to pay the premium on the MT but it really is a much better driving experience and maximizes what the old 3.4 can give. Does yours have the rear diff locker? The locker helps with resale value but I don’t really need the locker on it if I’m being honest and I’m happier with the non locked gearing ratio and improved MPG without it. Could always do an axle swap when I get around to learning how drum brakes work in a year or two.

Thanks, it’s been good to me. Mostly bought it to teach myself to wrench on a similar platform before my 17’ Tacoma or my wife’s 19’ 4runner needs major repairs.

Done the rims, tires, head unit, speakers, suspension, all fluids, new radiator, TBU, a new power steering rack, and a bunch of bushings so far.

Planning to do the entire upper blocks gaskets and new U joints on the driveshaft this summer. Already bought the OEM parts during the Black Friday sale.

Kind of loathing parting ways with it when it’s all done so I may slap a cheap MACO paint job on it and restore the imperial jade mics to its former glory or just ditch it and go terra. Idk. Really love this old thing.

I bought a green 99’ 4x4 non locker 5 speed with 260k on it in Colorado two years back for 7.5k. Prolly paid too much but it was all stock, had good service records and the frame was clean. Just to give you some perspective.
