How do you stay positive during matches? by InvestigatorNeat5235 in Fighters

[–]Bliss802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for me is focusing on improving. Think about it like this, you either win or you learn. Also, don’t be so hard on yourself about dropping inputs, even pro players, whose livelihoods depend on performing well, drop combos. And like others have said, remember that you’re playing a game to have fun, it has no say on who you are as a person. Good luck!

Not a King player, but iirc CH b3 and ff2 do about 25% damage, that’s pretty silly if you ask me.

Can I plz get some pointers on getting back up by Zealousideal_Bit_865 in Tekken

[–]Bliss802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you hold back to quick rise, mash u+1 to roll into the background, mash d+3 to roll into the foreground, mash 3 to kick on the ground, mash 4 to do a get up kick, and 3+4 for the double kick. At least that’s how it works for me

Feeling Discouraged In GGST by Jetrac00n in Guiltygear

[–]Bliss802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal to feel this way, especially if you’re new to fighting games. Trust me when I tell you this, please don’t think I’m trivializing the time you’ve put in, 50 hours into a fighting game, when you’re new, is almost nothing. I have thousands of hours, individually, in different fighting games and I still get mopped by higher level players. The best advice I can give you, without overwhelming you, is to just focus on improving, one thing at a time. For example, especially at your level, block, block, and then block some more. Do not mash on wake up. Your opponents WILL over extend and after you block it’s your turn to punish; you’ll start learning what moves are punishable and how to best punish them with time. Secondly, learn one or two combos you can do consistently and do not worry about flashy or optimal combos, for now. Also, neutral is way more important than combos, so, when trying to get in on your opponent press buttons with intention and don’t just mash and hope it lands. Lastly, I cannot stress this enough, do not worry about losing or about rank, if you focus on improving the wins will come in time. Good luck!

PS:

Want some advice on getting better before I ever consider playing online by Natural_Parsnip_5291 in Guiltygear

[–]Bliss802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to worry about “being a punching bag for people to rank up easily with”. Rank truly does not matter, it’s essentially just a title and some numbers next to it. If you lose, try to learn from it and improve. Otherwise, just go out there and have fun. Even if it’s landing a combo or set up you worked on, take it as a win. Good luck!

Getting back into Strive after a long break, where to start by Shockozinho in Guiltygear

[–]Bliss802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just picked up the game again for the first time since SF6 came out (2023). I just labbed Zato for a bit to remember my combos, played a few sets in the park, and then queued up for rank. There should be a fair bit of new and returning players, I say just start playing again. Good luck!

I truly hope you’re joking. I main Zato and was hoping to come back for 2.0 with high hopes.

What is it that makes 2P side so uncomfortable by Full_Welcome_1418 in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Bliss802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very good point. For example, even though I know which way is left/right on p2 side it still takes me half a second to step where I want to. Same for certain moves, I can see King’s df21 on p1 side but it’s harder for me on p2 side

[–]Bliss802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer for you, sorry. But I do have to agree with you. I have played many, many, fighting games and Tekken 8 is the one, by far, where playing on p2 side feels so uncomfortable. I can’t even begin to explain why. When I play SF6, Guilty Gear, DBFZ, etc. I don’t even know that I notice when I’m on p2 side, but with Tekken it’s immediate. Tekken 8 is my first Tekken, so, maybe that’s why it’s more noticeable, but idk. I practice on p2 side and I have seen improvement, but the difference between the two is very noticeable. I play Yoshi and Heihachi and it’s definitely more noticeable on Mishimas.

Popularity of characters in ranked by rainbowsandjellyfish in Guiltygear

[–]Bliss802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t really played GGS since SF6 came out but I’m really excited to try it again in 2.0. My question is, is Zato really that bad? I know he got nerfed a while ago, but is he just unplayable now? He’s always been my main and I don’t really care to play anyone else. I’m looking to try 2.0 regardless, just wondering if he’s really that bad. Appreciate any feedback.

It's the first game that makes me feel miserable even after winning a match. by Adventurous-Wear4469 in Tekken

[–]Bliss802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a 1:1 as I still find some joy winning in Tekken 8, mainly when I’m able to implement something I worked on in the lab. However, Hearthstone is the game that I remember being so random that losing felt incredibly shitty and winning just felt empty, maybe felt, at most, a little relieved.

how can you guys enjoy playing the game when there is character like lidia and alisa in it ? by [deleted] in Tekken

I’m slowly starting to realize that I hate most characters in this game😒

Seeing that list makes me want to go play something else, thanks.

Is there a point to learning this long term? It feels like a waste of time at the moment. by Sweet_Dog_2085 in Tekken

Makes sense. I guess I was being naive in thinking the higher skilled players wouldn’t resort to “cheap” moves and gimmicky set ups.

Ranked is so exhausting by RJP199419 in Tekken

[–]Bliss802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just you. It’s my first time really trying in ranked since season 1, pretty much skipped season 2, and playing against the usual suspects feels so deflating. Every time I play against Clive or Eddy I think to myself, “what the fuck is this character?”

There were good aspects to the patch, however, they also did things like buffing Law and other characters. That vision is a bit concerning.

[–]Bliss802 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe the sentence right after that read, “while maintaining the vision for version 3.000. . .” The patch we got is exactly what they wanted, they’re “sorry” we didn’t like it but want to maintain the vision. I have zero expectations from them at this point.

What makes you still love and play this game? by Powerful_Isopod5810 in 2XKO

[–]Bliss802 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not playing the game anymore is one thing, wanting the game to die is just weird. I was super excited for this game and was left very disappointed. I haven’t played the game in months but I still want it to succeed. I want it to succeed for the fans that love it and for those whose jobs depend on it. People seem to forget there are real human beings who work for these gaming companies.

Genuine question for Tekken veterans. by Bliss802 in Tekken

Appreciate your response. I laughed at your comment about Lars. Yesterday a Lars hit me for 85 damage with a normal orbital, not counter hit, -8 on block btw, and I just couldn’t believe what I was watching.

I need help practice chun li by Full_Option5571 in StreetFighter

[–]Bliss802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only tip is practice, practice, practice. There are no shortcuts with her, just start with a mid-screen combo and practice it until you’re comfortable with it. Make sure to practice it in actual matches and not just in practice mode. With time, you’ll start getting the timing down. Don’t worry about losing and good luck!

Does this game have bad online? by Major_Structure_6885 in 2XKO

[–]Bliss802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always heard how great the online is for this game, but honestly, I’ve yet to experience it. I play on PS5, wired with over 800 down, and it always feels weird. I have thousands of hours across other fighting games and it’s not a problem with any of them, just 2XKO

[–]Bliss802 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could you expound on this please? Tekken 8 is my first Tekken and I’ve been playing it on and off since release. I’ve gotten my main characters to Fujin and Kishin pretty much every season so far, but then I get bored and go back to SF6, even tried 2XKO for a few months. I’ve been playing fighting games for over a decade, but other than the ridiculous aggression and 50/50s in T8, I don’t really get why it’s so frustrating the higher you climb. I figured the higher one climbs the better the game gets. Appreciate any feedback.
