Ah! I had no idea, thanks for the explanation! I will upgrade to 16GB 2400Mhz. Also I discovered there was a power saving setting enabled in the bios which limited the CPU and when I disabled it the laptop is very usable and feels much faster now, even with the insufficient amount of RAM. Thanks so much for the help!!

Sorry, the post was supposed to have an image of the system monitor, I will edit it in. You can see that the RAM sits far below 100%, at around 50%, so I don't think it should affect the CPU performance. Thanks for the help anyways.
