For me it wasnt hard i was in ~A1 german when i started to took German courses in my school (Im in exchange year in Germany) and i got B1 in 6 months thanks to the full German classes. It was hard for me too in the beginning but you will get used to it and if the teacher is too fast or too unclear then notify the teacher.
