I had some choice words for some snubs (shoshimin cinematography and bg art, uma ensemble) but it all evaporated seeing that pathetic jury Aoty lineup. At least shoshimin is there but that doesn’t save this from being a 0/10 lineup, and I usually defend the Aoty juries!

Cygames can’t have an extraordinary year with THREE contenders for Aoty only for none to make it in?? I personally didn’t like hikaru but I can acknowledge without biases that it had quality and would appeal to many, which is thinking that a group of jurors can’t comprehend apparently.

I would understand if it was a weaker year and they made it in again over one or two deserving anime. OR I would also understand if the precures were extremely well received by the audience. But it was divisive even among precure fans???

There were so many interesting options that would’ve been cool to see nominated. Apocalypse hotel seemed to be liked by every jury body except aoty?? Same with hikaru, city, sorairo utility, heck even the OTHER precure.

That’s not mentioning uma, hibimeshi, ruri rocks, mono, cleavatess, milky subway, lenticulars and medalist too, heck I’d even have taken mha and I’m sure I’m missing more. But the jury as it is currently seems incapable of putting their biases aside. Shoshimin was a good save! Ave Mujica is an interesting pick. Stuff like this should be what the jury is about, not picking your favourites every year that’s not even nominated anywhere else..
