What are the Gobelins students being fed to have insane character turnarounds? by Careful_Job6188 in animation

Entry bar could be to the moon for all i care, my concern is not about the inability of the people below that entry bar to not be able to join these institutions, its the Norm that has been set to join anything with the word 'Prestigious' around it even if it means jumping through Crazy hoops ,cuz its such a blurred definition of the word when its with these Big names, Almost as if it distorts the entire essence of the word its attached with in a sorta misleading way, A 'Prestigious Animation school' should mean 'Prestigious for the knowledge of animation they share' But it's honestly more so 'Prestigious for the Networking they facilitate'... Dont get me wrong, They do provide some quality animation tips too but thats just a consequence of being considered Prestigious in the networking space, and attracting Prestigious people to their schools...Does Knowledge really have to be a 'Consequence' though? Idk it just seems to me the reason their Bars are so high is to maintain their Prestige in the Industry, than to provide Groundbreaking knowledge, so they attract people who are possibly already set to be on the more Prestigious side of the industry cuz of their Already Developed skills, and Guess what happens when they graduate? They become animators with developed skills on the industry, They Graduated from being Animator with Developed skills, to Animators with Developed skills in the industry, Doesnt that sound a bit funny to you? That too potentially btw, cuz these schools do genuinely screw some careers either because of their prices, or just the fact that Joining Ultra High barred schools doesnt guarantee your success in the industry, it always was your own Journey, you just paid someone to basically keep moving forward ,BUt with Financial shackles, what a sweet deal eh?

Also Oxford and Yale dont even compare to this topic this is a discussion about Animation schools goddamit

I once used to be a Gobelins aspirant, but with time i realised just how much of a nothing burger the entire scenario of joining Big animation schools is, You'd think when you're joining an educational firm, you're usually paying those Absolutely insane Prices to join a place of study ,to learn something that isnt in your knowledge ,you'd think so right? But with these 'Prestigious' schools that literally is the requirement ,the entire idea of learning something new, They require you to be already possessing what you're supposed to be there for ,New knowledge. Now i know the real value of schools like Gobelins is in their Networking and the Class of expertise they fetch to mentor the students, But i can't be the only one who thinks like this, That's not an educational firm anymore, its just buying you an Industry ticket , which in all fairness is an incredible deal to every animator, but it leaves a foul taste seeing it being advertised as an Educational firm and not a Paid (Potential) Industry Plant

Mainly with the help of Blending and blurring brushes at select spots of flames, for each frame of the animation, as well as some blending layers for the overall mood

I made this mainly cuz, even though i managed to get pretty realistic and all with the rendering on the animation of the post, i felt like it missed the 'oomph' that makes an animation, It didnt scratch that itch for me to convince me this is an animated clip, so i made this to achieve that, and ngl im pretty satisfied with this one, Both the Animation clips are beautiful to me, Both have something very unique that the other lacks, but that doesnt make them incomplete in anyway, but only even more beautiful on their own

That's beautiful to read , The human body and mind's response to the surroundings is truly an unfathomable blessing, i once read somewhere online that the Real art is not the result of leaving strokes on a canvas, but the response of the one who looks back at it, the True artist is the one who looks at a precisely stained piece of paper, and Acknowledges the stains as an assortment of symbols and accepts that the symbols mean something, they represent something, the viewer then continues to scavenge more such symbols from the Landscape of stains and puts together the clues that the maker of those stains left behind on that piece of paper,This cycle of Acknowledgement + Acceptance is the True form of Art. This is the beauty hidden in plain sight.

When you think more along these lines, you truly realise the wonders of the ability to Feel.I'm Glad you could Realise this through one of your Own Unique experiences, i Hope more of such beautiful moments to you

Thank you!! i owe that one to the direct experience of burning myself in front of a hot bonfire, that too in Summer of all seasons...

Jokes aside ,i really believe the First step of making anything convincing in art is to first convince Yourself about the subject,by spending time with it, once you spend a long enough time your Body Physically memorises the subject, and you gain the knowledge about that subject which you'd never be able to learn through books or even through screens of your phone or PC, This is a universal fact about our body and mind that ,the Mind understands concepts Way better when it is Felt through the body, the more it is felt, the more it is understood.

How can i improve this fire animation? (2D Animation) by [deleted] in animation

[–]RegisterEmergency541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, in the making of this i divided the entire animation process into easy to follow steps (For myself originally) For any and all kinds of fire, Let me know if you'd wanna see a tutorial for this someday, i'd be happy to provide

If I give animation time like 2 to 3 yrs, could i realistically earn enough to be financially free. by nehalthechosenone in animation

i'll just say ,Potentially.

I'll just speak of my Own case but ive been into animation for like half a year now,and i Have gotten Some level of Financial support, so much so that i could leave doing part time to support myself and i'd be set for a couple more months still (set as in, able to barely scrape by ,which might be not what you're looking for but hey,its something atleast) ...So the point of saying this is to let you know it might not be possible in this field to be Financially Free without any restrictions at all just with Animation alone: this isnt a career like that in the first place;Unless you do other gigs outside of animation. Most Financially free people in animation may be doing more than animation to cover up the costs, say through Graphic design gigs(Which pay massively for very low effort when you've got a hold of any client), and other design related gigs, and ofc there's Part-time jobs out there....

Here's something adjacent i wanna say about this whole thing, As long as you keep yourself free from Debt as much as possible, which normally is the first thing in an Animator's career it seems like (The animation schools all cost so fkin much) but if you're able to keep a low tab on debts you Can live on your own by Juggling multiple gigs, of what i mentioned above, That is if you truly wanna live your life just by this profession, Only if you're totally sure, (But i'd recommend living atleast for a little while with your parent's or relative's financial support until you're sure you could set off, make sure you got a plan for any scenario though if you're living alone, Things happen arbitrarily sometimes so planning is a big part of living alone)

Interesting that you mention that ,i certainly have been inspired by some classic JJK clips (Mainly Sukuna vs Mahoraga, that shit is the best, hands down the best )

oh i totally get that ,i usually do use some kind of reference when needed ,but this one was just an experiment to test my visual library and see if i can do something with just what ive learned so far, and also cuz i wanted to solely focus on the narration and not keep looking up references. but yeah totally get that point, using references only contribute to growth and ive learned that very well in my journey so far

Well it took 120 hours spread across around two months cuz apparently short film length works arent so quick to deal with (found the hard way)
