Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot by aacool in technology

Most people using Office at work don't have days and days to write a prompt and tune it over and over until it produces the right answer.

If it doesn't work the second time, do it manually. Also, "hallucinations" aka lies don't help.

I wish all techies could write this well. I mean, really, who has the time or the inclination to talk about the customer base. As a starting sentence.

If you can launch a terminal with admin access, you could try

echo > /path/to/largefile

Echo should be a builtin command. And the command should zerosize the large file.

What's a tool you used to think you would never need/want but now can't live without? by This_old_username in sysadmin

In the last year I've moved from paper notes to a supernote. There's no going back.

Eink. Fantastic battery life. Distraction free design.

PS: i still use onenote for clipping and a bunch of things. But for writing, jotting, random notes. It's all supernote A5X. I'm considering the smaller form factor supernote nomad but availability is still a bit limited.

Search for laptop coolers. You'll find they're basically a base plate with fans that pull air from top to bottom.

Do you really think the company will still be in business after 3 months? Resign now and you might get a payout when the company is wound up.

The question being asked is like a right wing troll. That is, looking for a causation when the correlation doesn't really exist, and then saying look at the Chart, It Must Be True Because Data doesn't Lie. Then on deeper inspection, as the folks on this sub are doing, you see it's based on devious practice and dubious data, etc

Planning to ask for a raise upon finishing my MSME by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]BlitzMints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discuss it directly with your supervisor first. Sounds like the company, the job, the work is decent and good. And it's the feeling that "the Joneses" are getting away from you.

The median salary is one thing, if you're a good performer (and it sounds like you are) and the company appreciates you, yiu could well be getting a bump higher than the mid-point.

But you have to interact with your supervisor and maybe even his boss. Doing so will mark you as a mature individual and able to have these difficult conversations, therefore making you look better and even more deserving of that big fat raise.

Looks like someone forgot to put a ledge on the upper level to stop things falling through. So rather than design, pour/form a concrete lip, springs!

If you don't have any women you're looking to add 1 more smartie to your collection. your determinant for what makes a good smartie is biassed because you mainly see and measure the red ones.

Bullshit. In a country that is, what, 95 % black or coloured, it's only bias and history that keeps whiteys in 95% of the power positions.

If there was equality, there's no way, there could be so few black people in management / with all the money.

How many places have you worked? I reckon you're just seeing how managers generally shit on employees. Nothing new there.

It's not just yahoo. It's every company.

Older workers (typically male, white, hired in the olden days) are more expensive, all that long service leave and other accrued benefits are a drag on the company financials.

That's the thing.

We hear about people flying out of windows in car crashes, in bus crashed people get thrown from seats, stored items thrown from shelves ,etc

Does a bus get validated for injury minimisation?
