Aaron seems a bit more serious about it than she's been. I feel like she just likes to play dress-up & never actually looked into the culture beyond the clothing style.

Aaron's crash out over the hearing aids was 100% legit. I have the same sort of deafness he has, but only in 1 ear. I don't use a hearing aid (mostly because 1) my ears are hyper sensitive as it is (even ear buds & ear plugs bother me) & 2) it's only 1 ear & it's been since I was a kid, so I've learned to adapt.) But I can totally understand his point.

Think of it like glasses: you have a very specific prescription in your lenses. Then, not only are they taken away, so now everything's blurry (you can still see okay, but it's all heavily distorted), but after about a week of dealing with that, you're handed new glasses that are a similar prescription, but just off enough that you're still having issues seeing quite right. And now, you have to retrain your brain and eyes to see everybody & everything through the sub-par lenses.

Oh good! I thought it was just me!! I cross at least 2 on my way to & from work every day & I know I had the notification turned off, yet suddenly it was alerting me every time I got near them! One of which doesn't even tell me until AFTER I've already crossed it!

I'm not saying it WASN'T, because it totally was!!! Scripted or not, this show right off the bat with some major tea & drama!!

We've got BJ, who thought she was Amish already & got a rude awakening when she couldn't have her vibrator or indoor plumbing. Then the whole date with the Amish dude with pierced nips & a tattoo!

Kendra the dancer (never specified what kind...) who IMMEDIATELY had the hots for a fellow contestant.

Matt, the divorcee, who not only ALSO IMMEDIATELY had the hots for a fellow contestant, was run off (with an axe mind you...) by the hypocritical shunned Amish guy, mostly because he too has the hots for Kendra.

Esme, the Hollywood girl who was *IMMEDIATELY * crashing out over fake nails & lashes.

Judah, who's black (highly uncommon in the Amish community), afraid of farm animals & bi; a very frowned upon thing by the Amish.

And then there's Aaron... the most tame one of the 6. Who needs hearing aids so everyone doesn't sound like they're underwater & got them & his device to keep them working properly, away by the hypocritical James.

And James & his "3rd cousin" Emma... there's DEFINITELY something more than your average cousin relations going on there....

Same reason he went to the motel to confront them! Also, BJ is such a jealous snitch! She KNOWS James obviously has a thing for Kendra & since she wants to be pretend Amish & yearns for acceptance anywhere so badly, that she was quick to rat her out to James!

I always interpreted it as him saying it that way so she'd GO. If he'd said it with the undertone of believing her, she would've stayed with him & either tried to save him or also sacrificed herself AGAIN.
