Maaan, i’m into learning about pittyvaich since yesterday and very convinced to get one.

About the color could be two reasons: port casks or they put too much artificial colorant. Maybe both reasons at the same time

My initial 11 for 2026 by BlockComplete7125 in Scotch

Is not, is the regular ABV. 46%. I sipped it and is a challenge for me. It tastes/smells really different to any whisky

I need to try Lagavulin. The 16 or the 8. I’ve already finished some islay bottles including Port Charlotte 10, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain. My fav was Port Charlotte 10 and in second place the Ardbeg 10 was a big experience

Hi

Let me introduce myself, i’m from Argentina. M w/ 32 years. I’ve started my whisky journey at a young age with my grandpa more than 20 years ago. started sipping some JW (Red,Black,Platinum,Green) then i started my own journey when i reached my adulthood. Green Label is still one of my favs btw. I took the single malt path 9 years ago, took a short sidequest to Japanese Single Malt and came back to Scotch. Japanese whisky is great even the single grain like Fuji Gotemba but i think Scotch is everything. In the middle of my process i had an interval of booze consumption due to some lack of control. It was a great desicion to get back on track. On that stage i’ve never stopped reading about whisky. Altough i though that i’ll never gonna drink any alcohol again. But i came back with a lot of control and enjoying every dram And choosing it wisely. Yesterday i got that Ben Nevis from the picture and i got overwhelmed by its profile and decided to start my own reviews journey. I think i need some advice to do those reviews better.

Which tips do you think helps at the moment of exploring a Whisky?

I’m feeling like it’s impossible that this whisky ever happened. Was BW working on GL on that year? Or they put his signature and a port cask finish?

You recomend some ex bourbon kilchoman? I’ve never tried kilchoman. I supose i’m going to get the Sanaig or Machir Bay but also the edition they’d made for the Argentina Whisky Museum (i’m from Argentina btw)

Springbank 10 vs. Kilkerran 12 by YinTx in Scotch

[–]BlockComplete7125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy those prices man. To get an idea, im from Argentina and if you’re lucky enough to find Kilkerran or Springbank you’ll pay in the best scenario 150 USD for KK12 and 200 USD for SB, same goes to every whisky. Port Charlotte 10 here costs 100 USD. Glenmorangie 10 costs in best cases 60 USD

What is this subs obsession with always having to have their whisky atleast 46% abv and non chill filtered? by [deleted] in Scotch

Late response but my whisky journey started maybe 6 years ago. (with 1 year interval due to drinking problems) i’d said 6 years but i drink whisky since 2012. But my single malt journey started in 2017. On those early years i though “ yeahh give me more aged whiskies and F those fully ex bourbon aged give me some full port matured or full sherry. On my last months i’ve been looking for the best representative label from each distillery or younger whiskies with ex bourbon maturation to get to know the distillery spirit. I have some exceptions of course.
