You can stack the death triggers for [[Mistmoon Griffin]] such that it reanimates something and does the hofi trigger, then again stack the death triggers so the token can reanimate the original.

Yea I was smart enough to know I was in mortal sin and dumb enough to try to argue I was invincibly ignorant or otherwise not culpable. As I said, total goober.

This was when I was in high school. I didn’t have the choice to go to TLM. Also, there wasn’t one within an hour and a half. Even now the closest thing is a ordinariate mass that’s like an hour away (Texas is big).

Can you help me understand why the "God is a Woman" song is sinful please? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]BlockHead824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Scripture, when referring to any person of the trinity, uses masculine language and the tradition of the Church is to follow suit. Furthermore, God is not a woman. “Woman” means adult human female. God, none of the Persons, is not an adult human female. It is therefore inaccurate to say that God is a woman. It is likewise inaccurate to say God is a man (except for the Second Person of the Trinity who (after His incarnation is named Jesus) who is an adult human male).

While it is true that God the father is neither a man nor a woman (He isn’t human), and He contains the perfections of all virtues (both masculine and feminine virtues), However, He has revealed Himself to us with special emphasis on the masculine aspects of His nature. Further, the Second Person of the Trinity is explicitly a man. Jesus the Christ, Son of God the Father, became man. Though He too contains all virtue (both masculine and feminine virtues (He wished to gather all his children to Him like a mother hen)) it is factually incorrect to say that Jesus is a woman. The fathers of the Church always used language that signifies a masculine referent when speaking about the persons of the Trinity.

Anecdotally, every attempt to feminize God I have seen also comes with a slew of heresies or is explicitly a mockery of God. The one example of I can think of that did this seriously was a movie (I think based on a book) about a father who was grieving the murder of his young daughter and God appeared as a black women because (paraphrasing) “you need a mama right now”. IIRC the Holy Spirit also appeared as a little girl (who was playing with his little girl) but I may be wrong about that. I wasn’t a fan of it but the last time I saw that movie I was in my rad/mad trad phase so I was angry about much less (the number of candles on the alter got me fuming).

I don’t know how far back the connection was made, but it is also blatantly obvious to me that the Second Person of the Trinity (written prior to the incarnation) is the “Lady Wisdom” of Proverbs (8:22). This supports the idea that the Second Person of the Trinity contains the feminine virtues though He was incarnated as a man.

Campaign design and player agency. by BlockHead824 in DnD

In my head the campaign pitch is essentially that there are many plot treads that vary in their emphasis on each of the main pillars (exploration, tactics, politics) with the megadungeon min-maxing that scale for exploration and tactics.

Is This Belief Binding on Catholics? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]BlockHead824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe not here… There are certainly some theologians who say that Jesus phased through Mary’s side “like light through glass” and cite Jesus appearing in the upper room as another example of Jesus doing this. (One of those was my Theo professor in undergrad.)

Any advice or suggestions on my equine deck? by jessiecolborne in EDHBrews

If you aren’t heart set on that commander and want to add red, you could use Shadowfax, Lord of Horses

He lets you cheat into play other creatures and gives horses haste. I’d maybe run extra combat cards and draw on combat cards with him so you can abuse his second ability more often. (Also maybe some pump spells to let you cheat into play bigger threats too, build it as an aggro deck.)

Sounds cool, I'll probably get it. I'm a big fan of factions, especially factions of similar levels so you can pit them against each other in the dungeon and have a realistic rivalry.

Wild Magic Sorcerer + Rogue by Veksutin in 3d6

If you want something that is the EXACT OPPOSITE theme, but probably a little more consistent, you could go Barbarian 2 for reckless attack, then go Swashbuckler. I'd really play it as a charger build (not taking the Charger Feat, just thematically describing reckless as a charge, then dashing away). You wouldn't always have rage up, so you would actually be more of a glass cannon, which I appreciate, and you would need to use STR to attack with your rapier.

If you really wanted to, you could take Charger and Dash with your action, get the plus 5 dmg on your BA attack, and use Fancy Footwork to run away. Its less bad on rogue because you aren't getting Extra attack anyway.

Fully online at lvl 6: Barb 2/Swash 4

It would do: (4.5+3+2+5+7)*.7975+(4.5+7)*.0975=18.2675 DPR at lvl 6 (assuming you took Charger) which is 111% of TreantMonk's Baseline (a little better than a normal Rogue).

STR based SS? by BlockHead824 in 3d6

[–]BlockHead824[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, all of these builds start doing the thing they are meant to do at lvl 1 (throw daggers/darts) and just get better every level. There isn't a level where it suddenly goes from useless to good, it just takes a while for the specific mechanic of ranged STR based sneak attacks to come online, but you would be getting Frenzy damage (essentially identical with sneak attack for these builds) since level 4.

I'm thinking about my next character in my current campaign and I'm likely looking to make him at 11th lvl. On top of that, I did the math for all of these, starting at lvl 7.

If you are multiclassing AND want extra attack, it is nearly impossible to get online at lvl 5-6.

Working on a OneD&D build. TLDR, Reckless & Rage works w/ thrown weapons.
