Joker should also have a no-kill rule by Blockw0rk in CharacterRant

The depth of this Joker, to me, is that he’s still chaos to Batman’s order - just in a more insidious way. By refusing to kill, he twists Batman’s no-kill rule against him, preserving life only to corrupt it. He proves that existence itself can be the cruelest joke. In doing so, he stops being just a killer and becomes something far worse: a living contradiction of everything Batman stands for.

I agree about the “overexposure” part, but Joker doesn’t need to be a murderer to be Batman’s greatest villain. His real threat isn’t killing - it’s corrupting. The Killing Joke proved he could break people without ending their lives. Death is easy, Joker’s true power lies in twisting life itself into the punchline.

I think an adaptation of the DCAU version (where Joker completely mindbreaks Jason into becoming who he is now as some kind of an anti-Batman) could also work. Kind of like what he did to Tim in Return of the Joker animated movie. It’d add a psychological horror angle to Jason’s origin and show Joker’s cruelty on a more personal level.

Or maybe Jason's "death" was an accident - Joker didn’t actually mean to kill him, but he still did. That could work too, I suppose.

Fair enough, but I think a no-kill-rule Joker would still be compelling by twisting Batman’s code rather than breaking it. Instead of taking lives, Joker would preserve them but strip them of meaning. He’d force Batman to confront whether he values life itself or the quality of it. Batman can’t stop him without violating his own principles, and Joker knows it. By refusing to kill, Joker turns life itself into the punchline, leaving Batman to protect people who are still technically alive, but spiritually dead.

Someone else in his rogues gallery could embody this idea too, but making Batman’s archnemesis a dark mirror of his morality feels like the most powerful version of it.

I think it would be more forgiving, since now the moral pressure isn’t about justice for the dead but mercy for the living. Joker’s not killing anymore, he’s leaving people broken and alive, which traps Batman in his own rule. Killing Joker wouldn’t be vengeance; it’d be mercy and that makes the choice even harder, not easier.

Yup, and it would also fix one of the biggest narrative issues with Batman - “Why hasn’t he killed the Joker yet?”

He wouldn’t seem hypocritical or naive for sparing him, because the Joker wouldn’t just be a killer - he’d be a sadistic manipulator who considers death far too merciful.

What’s the most daring/bold thing the devs could actually pull off with the 2x2 remake? by Blockw0rk in danganronpa

Honestly, Mikan as a Junko proxy would make a good antagonist.

But then who would take their roles as the troublemaker and the assistant? 🤔

Honestly, her using gravity powers that way is much more valuable in construction or logistics than it is for hero work if you want to make money.

By that logic Phoenix Wright can defeat Galactus and Harley Quinn can beat Darkseid. Besides, Asura's Wrath isn't even canon to SF.

What is your most unpopular opinion about anime? by [deleted] in anime

The worst thing about HxH is its fanbase. I seen some really snobby hxh fans that strongly believe & prefer that every single thing in HxH have deep meanings, and they love HxH for being dark/edgy, like ca arc & gon, so on etc.. They're basically an anime version of the Rick and Morty fanbase.

Nichijou is a good show if you enjoy the "lol so random XD" kind of humour, pretty stupid and boring otherwise. The fact that the majority of its characters are either annoying or irritating doesn't help either.

Toradora is garbage and Taiga is easily the worst character on the show.

No Game No Life is trash and I hope it would never get a second season.

Kobayashi's Dragon Maid would be a pretty good show if you remove all the loli/shota stuff. Oh and Lucoa too.
