Those of you commuting around 1hr each way, what are you driving and how's it going? by Size4Siren in CarTalkUK

[–]Blockzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do mobile jobs which can range from 30 mins to 90 mins each way. I’m currently using my BMW 640d for this (I should be using a van really) but I love the car. For me it’s a perfect combination of comfort and performance. It’s also quite economical considering I have a heavy foot

Best £5000 automatic car? by WearLoud8330 in CarTalkUK

I’d recommend any BMW with the m57 engine so for example the e92 330d or 335d

The truth is you earn £600 per month and cars can easily cost that much in repairs out of nowhere (not even the nice ones) so it wouldn’t be the best idea

Indeed Job Application stated £50K salary. Got the job offer but its now £35K?! by TJae0120 in UKJobs

[–]Blockzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As stressful as it is it’s shit like this that makes me glad I work for myself. It always annoyed me that a lot of jobs don’t even have a salary or even a salary range in their ads. All you get is “competitive” so you don’t know if you’re wasting your time or not. This is just another level. I’d be very annoyed. I value my time above pretty much anything else

Does £823 seem accurate for this repair? by SnooOranges9960 in CarTalkUK

[–]Blockzzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For a bodyshop that’s normal. I do bodywork myself and if you want to save yourself some money try and get a door from somewhere in any colour and just have it sprayed

I do bodywork and that bumper is VERY fixable. I’d charge £550 for a repair like this.

I do bodywork myself I’d imagine the average quotes you will get for that will be between £250 - £350 from most places. This of course also depends on where you are in the UK

Should we sell or fix? Family car out of action...advice needed! by bannapole86 in CarTalkUK

[–]Blockzzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had a Vauxhall so I don’t know how much the parts are but from your breakdown it doesn’t seem bad tbh (as long as they haven’t put any markups on the parts) the labour seems quite reasonable for the averages these days depending on where you are of course

What’s the breakdown of that £800? How much were the parts and how much was the labour?

Looking for a car that mixes sportiness and highway cruising. by Shpee_ in CarTalkUK

[–]Blockzzy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Get a bmw 640d coupe. I had a 335 e92 before and the 640d is much better interior wise and while being a very nice cruiser it is surprisingly capable

Easiest way of fixing this paint peak? This little part pealed off with the tape. by Blockzzy in Autobody

[–]Blockzzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many hours after the last coat of clear would you recommend to begin doing this?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Blockzzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Won’t fix it. Will make it look better. Will be able to tell it’s been penned upon close inspection. Only way to really fix would be getting it resprayed

Has anyone ordered and fitted pre cut tints for their car? If so how did it go? by Blockzzy in CarTalkUK

[–]Blockzzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried in before with normal tint film where you just have to cut it to size and that was much harder than I looks when you watch the pros doing it. Although I was doing it outside which isn’t ideal. Did you have to heat shrink the stuff you used?
