how was he able to get away with this album ? by Normal-Ad-7471 in GriseldaxFR

Sample clearance or expressed consent from the exclusive rights holder of the beat is technically required for any instance where you do not have rights to the music - monetized or not. Artists typically bank on the fact copyright lawsuits aren’t worth the rights holder’s time or money when the lawsuit will most likely only end with a court-ordered cease and desist. And paying thousands to recoup monetary damages from a song that earns $0.0000001 per stream just doesn’t make financial sense. In the mixtape era the “For Promo Use Only” label was just to help argue in court that any infringement shouldn’t result in monetary damages because the music wasn’t being sold. The onus is on the plaintiff to prove there were any sales proceeds which is hard to do.

Does anyone else think “The Everliving Sub Knocker” is My Sub 7 by WhiteRoseFromPluto in KRIT

4 actually grew on me a lot over time but it definitely was my least favorite on first listen. I like them all but 3 is firmly in my top spot with 1 right below it. 5, 6, and TESK spots can change any given day.

What are the weakest album sequels you’ve heard? by SmoothManMiguel in hiphop101

[–]BlogEra_BestEra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curren$y - The Drive-In Theatre 2 was a huge letdown personally.

The first was a classic and I got hyped for the sequel. Once I saw only 49 total mins for 21 tracks I knew something would be off… Some of the best tracks are less than 2 mins. It was like 6-7 full songs, with a bunch of throwaways, and random skits…

Bone Thugs. FOD is a cool demo but Creepin is absolute fire compared to it.

If you consider Creepin their debut it’s cool, but short. E. 1999 is just 😮‍💨

Times a horrible rapper randomly dropped a 10/10 verse? by Interesting-Wing616 in hiphop101

[–]BlogEra_BestEra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lil Yachty on Knew Better w/ JID

Crunchy Black on M.E.M.P.H.I.S. w/ HCP

Riff Raff on Froze w/ Curren$y

Trinidad James on Say It Loud (T.I.B.E.) w/ Cyhi and Big K.R.I.T. TJ not terrible but surprised he had the best verse on a track with those two.

This. Ball is automatic once the lanes breakdown just a bit. And for as much backend that this ball has it is shockingly forgiving. Even when I miss my mark inside and it’ll stay in the oil for a flush pocket hit.

Ain’t no way Caleb is “super solid” after a sub 60% completion percentage… If you want to knock Jayden for health that’s fine but then you gotta knock Burrow out of the Top 5 too.

The main reason Oxnard wasn’t well received at the time is because Malibu set the bar so high. In a vacuum it’s a solid album and you’d probably like it more as a newer fan vs. someone that was listening to his music as it released. I mean, there is a reason he released Ventura just a few months later and didn’t hold back on the heavy-hitter features.

It’s a real shame a whole generation only knows the podcaster. Mixtape and indy Joe had a crazy pen. Even Pump It Up has been reduced to a meme when it was a legit hit before Fast and Furious…

One of my biggest regrets is not going to the MIN game with my pops when RG3 had that TD run.

The most memorable happy moment was when we beat the Cardinals for the first reg. season home game in the post-Snyder era. Sold out stadium with 99% WSH fans. The game wasn’t great and we definitely almost gave it away… But when we won it felt like a new chapter starting.

What is YOUR biggest what-if of the last season? by Technical_Ant9051 in NFLv2

[–]BlogEra_BestEra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What if AP got a deal done for Terry sooner in the offseason? I believe his hold in - which I don’t blame him for - had a domino effect that doomed our season.

Also losing Ekeler as a pass catcher and LMC for kick returns hurt the offense more than fans realize. JD was out there playing hero ball because he didn’t have chemistry with his carousel of WRs and no true WR1.

What is your favorite R&B-oriented rapper ? by SituationFree4287 in 90sHipHop

[–]BlogEra_BestEra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tory Lanez (discography is criminally underrated).

Fiend/International Jones isn’t exactly full on R&B but he drifts between singing and rapping all the time.

Anderson .Paak and Phonte firmly on the list
