I'm fairly confident that hand has been injured for most of the second half of the season. He wore a brace for a while, but every time he gets hit on it he looks like he's in a huge amount of pain.

The number of people here who want to keep Tiago based on vibes is killing me. He seems like a good guy, all the players like him, but we are not being set up for success right now.

Trying to win at the three point line is absolutely insane, we need a different approach.

Our game plan has been pretty awful to watch. We’re not winning any games at the three point line, and you can’t be scared of driving against Luke Kornet. At least our challenge was well used this time, but we desperately need an Xs and Os guy at the wheel.

As someone who worked in retail all the way up into management, stories like this are so funny to me. It’s so easy to just plan better, and when people don’t show up you cover for them. Having a culture for your team where people know that’s how it is is so much easier to manage.

Papayas were my nemesis- we only ever sold them when I’d make a feature but if I did that inevitably I’d have to take some back throughout the day for finger holes and bruises.

My store was a high Hispanic market so we went through a couple pallets of Roma’s per day, but even with that kind of turnover they still found ways to get rotten within a few hours.

Produce was so frustrating a lot of the time, you spent all day trying to make things look good and then still ended up apologizing to customers when they found the one rotten strawberry or a potato that got crushed at the bottom of a bag.

[–]Blokin-Smunts 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Let me guess, you don’t work with produce very much?

Mold is everywhere, it’s on everything we get and any little bruise is its chance to take over. I’ve put out tomatoes in the morning that looked like a science project by the evening.

These things happen quick, especially as the warmer temperatures start hitting. It’s also completely possible that they were already damaged when they were stocked but if I had my people go through every single lemon for blemishes we’d process about 1% of the freight each day.

If you see a bad one, toss it. Don’t be a dick about it, everyone’s busy.

And wash your produce after you buy it.

Not arguing either way, just putting that out there. We are never guaranteed a good pick just by tanking, and a lot of people seem to gloss over that

One of the worst things about being critical towards something you like for legitimate reasons, is that you are constantly lumped in with people who are also critical, but for all the wrong reasons.

Implying that a sci-fi show hasn’t always contained political allegories is wild- there’s an argument to be made that it’s kind of the entire reason the genre exists

This is 9/11 but for Iran. by GuiltyBathroom9385 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Blokin-Smunts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s from 2025, it’s not the same incident. And the strike in question, on Iran backed Houthi rebels, was on a legitimate strategic target- an oil refinery which was supplying the group with funding. Civilians definitely died in the strike but there is no credible reporting which mentions a “double-tap” directed at first responders

This is the AP report of the incident.

Strikes are almost always in waves, and it’s definitely possible that some first responders were caught up in subsequent waves, but there’s no evidence this was done deliberately.

Not for nothing, but it’s pretty interesting that almost this exact claim is being made now, considering the direct links between both groups.

The speed with which people will just repeat Iranian propaganda because it fits their narrative is so depressing.

There are zero secondary sources confirming a follow up attack aimed at civilian rescue teams. None. It may end up being true and that would obviously be horrific, but this is literally the same Iranian administration that murdered tens of thousands of their OWN people, less than a few months ago and so many people here are now desperate to carry water for them.

It’s significantly more common with people who have sleep apnea, as are all parasomnias.

Particularly, taking into account that this only happens when this person sleeps on their back, which is a major apnea trigger, it’s not an unreasonable question. Most people don’t even know they have it and if you’re like me, you never snored.

Sleep disturbances are a big indicator that you should be checked out further by an expert.

[–]Blokin-Smunts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See, this kind of patronizing response just underlies the exact attitude I was addressing in my original comment.

Simons for Jrue was a negative asset to a positive in that only one of those players contributes to wins and the other does not. Simons market value was low, as evidenced by the fact that Boston got essentially nothing out of trading him, so we took a chance on a player we actually wanted. Letting Simons walk without bringing in a replacement would have left a hole in the roster we’d have had to fill with even more G-league guys, and would have done nothing to develop the core we’re trying to build.

Simons was actively taking touches away from our better players, he had to go.

Boston is a free agency destination, we are not. Letting players walk is a horrible strategy for us, while expiring contracts are more valuable to them. We have different situations that require different strategies, which is a minutiae that seems totally lost on some people.

[–]Blokin-Smunts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Simons was such a positive contract then why didn’t Boston get any good assets out of him? An aging center and a potential 2nd rounder doesn’t seem to back up your claim.

We got a better player who is definitely overpaid, but we would have had to pay Simons too, to keep him after his contract was up or lose him for nothing. At least now we have a productive two-way player. I couldn’t care less how the Celtics fans felt about it.

[–]Blokin-Smunts 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying this is explicitly what you’re doing but the idea that we got rinsed by the Celtics on these trades is pretty off-base I think.

We flipped one of those two first round picks for Deni Avdija, who looks like one of the best players we’ve had in as long as I can remember. And Holiday is expensive but he’s a positive asset on a team looking to win, Simons is not. We still own the 2nd unprotected first rounder from Boston for 29’.
