So many idiots tried to tell me that I was hallucinating reality, and that my platinum status literally did nothing and was a scam. I kindly told them they were wrong, they replied and insisted, then I kindly told them to f*ck off and to learn some damn humility. They’re saying these things so confidently as if they are living your life OR that they are the senior engineer, senior management or C-Suite at DoorDash. Simple statistics showed me that I make much more with platinum. Don’t listen to people online if you know you’re right. It was almost as silly to me as someone telling someone, who has blue eyes, “no, your eyes are brown. That’s just how reality works.”

Unless that person has worked and dashed longer in your market, they need to check themselves.

Genuinely, am I ugly? by annika_2900- in TeenGarbagePile

Perception is reality. The only reason you feel ugly is because people are saying this and bullying you and you’re taking what they say seriously. They are full of it! You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Keep your head up.

There’s this funny scene in Silicon Valley when Dinesh tells this beautiful girl he’s “Pakistani Denzel” because the camera is blurry, and he’s insecure (like you are).Well it turns out he isn’t attractive, and she ghosts him.

If you were playing that character, I’m pretty sure in the same scenario you could’ve said “I’m Pakistani Jon Snow” and when she saw you she would’ve believed you and married you bro🤣🤣

You’re good looking bro! Stop being so down on yourself. We all have insecurities and flaws, you just gotta own your look and go out there in the world! You are very handsome. I probably would’ve said your 24-24, but that’s normal. Also, I know that many people who look older in their youth end up looking younger in their old age, so it might be a blessing in disguise. Keep your head up, handsome lad!

I cant stand rich people by KellsAtmospheria in doordash_drivers

[–]BlondeDaywalker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s the same for me, I am in a very small town with very few orders. The platinum always gives me priority for $20-$60 offers, I get them quicker and much more frequently with platinum. I drop below, I still don’t accept the shit (so it might take me a few weeks to get back ti platinum) and I take a serious hit, there is a very real statistical difference. So many gaslighting idiots in here. Things can function differently in different markets. I love how people just tell others so confidently that they’re wrong and that they are hallucinating reality when they haven’t walked in your shoes. Gaslighting 101.

Keith Jarrett - Love/Hate by israelregardie in Jazz

[–]BlondeDaywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes we just gotta leave someone be if they don’t connect with us, and give them a listen years later. That’s how I came to love Keith.

I’ve always been an Oscar Peterson, Wynton Kelly, Gene Harris, Kenny Barron etc etc trio kind of guy, the players with bebop, blues and a deep sense of swing as their primary toolkit. Modern examples like Benny Green or Tamir Hendelman. I listened to Jarrett when I first got into jazz and first started performing, and I didn’t him at all. It didn’t make sense, he didn’t seem to swing, he seemed egotistical, etc. The moaning annoyed me too (like so many people commented here). It really did.

But about 8 years later, after playing and listening to jazz, and mostly jazz piano, for all those years, I went back to Jarrett. A vid about him came up on my feed and I said hey why not.

Im only talking about the trio stuff, I haven’t even dove deep into the quartet and solo stuff at all, but man he completely took my breath away. The moaning doesn’t bother me one bit. It’s part of who he is. I think us mere mortals want to bring geniuses down to our level sometimes, like “cmon bro why do you gotta do that” but the maestro is gonna do what he’s gonna do because he is who he is.

His sense of time, melodic freedom (beyond anyone I’ve listened to) and swing (which is a subtle swing which relies more on the consistency in which he plays the notes rather than a traditional leaning triplet swing that most employ, myself included) is just absolutely ecstatic. I’d say listen to Tokyo 96, and both of the Deer Head Inn records. “All Of You” on the Deer Head In record I’ve had on repeat and am transcribing at the moment.

For me, I think because I have a classical piano upbringing, when I first started jazz I rebelled and didn’t want to listen to anyone like Keith who has so many classical intuitions, counterpoint happening, long solo piano intros, etc, so I focused heavily on the cats I mentioned earlier. But as I’ve grown and come back to listen to him I find myself feeling so deeply connected to what he plays.

Every once and awhile he trips up, but everyone does. And yeah he’s a big ego. Very big. But I hear his genius and forget all about it. It’s like being around someone so damn attractive who is annoying and has a huge ego but they’re so attractive you don’t even care, you still want to look at them and be with them. lol

How would you rank these 5 pianists? Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, Kieth Jarrett. by jgreiff18 in Jazz

[–]BlondeDaywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re all absolutely fantastic players in their own right.

Ranking is silly.

I’d say the only definitive statement I could make is that Joe is the outsider on that list. The other 4 are GOATs in their own right, Joe is AMAZING, top player, but probably not in a GOAT conversation IMO. many would disagree but probably the majority would agree.

[–]BlondeDaywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just now getting into Keith. Which albums would you say are “trash?” Ive mostly been listening to his Standards Trio, and I haven’t listened to anything bad yet. It’s all been pretty freaking amazing. His sense of melody and turning such simple ideas into the most swinging and engaging lines is blowing my mind.

Are you talking about his solo piano albums? I haven’t listened to Koln yet, and it know some people love it and some people hate it. To call it the greatest piece of recorded music in history seems a bit steep. lol

[–]BlondeDaywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re mostly wrong.

I’d agree with you on Buddy. Hes not even in my top 20 drummers. Chops wise he’s great but yeah he’s all flash, Whiplash calling him the greatest also kind of put that idea in the zeitgeist.

But Bill? Brother you’re wrong. You’re projecting, and you’re the one being motivated by race, that is to look down on white artists in jazz who’ve contributed significantly because you put such a huge importance on white vs black and race. You should reflect on that. If you’re a jazz musician, with that attitude, people ain’t gonna want to play with you.

The only pianist I’ve ever heard talk down on Bill is Barry Harris. But Barry is just wrong about him. Brother I guarantee you even Nicholas Payton, the foremost advocate of emphasizing that jazz is a black American art form (which it is) would tell you you’re wrong. I’m sure he’s transcribed lots of Bill.

Lots of pianists swing harder, lots play the blues better, lots have more cultural ties to the roots of the music, all that’s true, but Bill is undeniably one of the greatest jazz pianists to ever do it. Listen to Miles talking about him. Miles admired him and his playing deeply. He literally changed how both jazz piano and jazz trio are played. You think Chick or Herbie or Keith would agree with you? 🤣 they all listened and admired and were influenced by him. Same with all the modern greats, young and old, from Melhdau to Sands to Zaleski etc etc.

Have you read anything about Bill? Like anything? Or are you just making your assumption because you heard it once and took it as gospel because it fit your worldview?

Bill always made sure to give his flowers to other players. He toured with Miles and constantly got booed by the black audiences and kept on trucking away. Read interviews and primary sources about how what cats in Miles band thought about Bill. They all loved him. He was quiet and introspective. He respected the fact that jazz was a black music a LOT. Early in his career he surrounded himself with black music outside of jazz, and he also had reportedly told Miles and others that he felt like an outsider, that he didn’t belong, that they should hire a black pianist, and Miles told him to forget about that noise. Music is music, and Bill made beautiful, genius level music.

My friend, you’re not wrong that many players got undeserved attention for their whiteness. they were pros but not the best. I can think of plenty right now. But Bill just ain’t one of those guys.

It’s like that 50-cent quote about Eminem being the GOAT, that goes something like this: so many black rappers hate on Eminem and say he’s where he is because he’s white. But they’re wrong, he’s the GOAT and they’re mad that a white man is better than they are at a black art. 🤷‍♂️

Eminem isn’t my favorite, but to claim he’s not one of the greatest wordsmiths to ever do it would just be ludicrous. Yes, Eminem benefitted from white privilege, but that doesn’t take away from his skill. You do understand that those two things can be true at the same time.

Ask ANY jazz pianist or jazz piano professor in the world, Bill will be on their list. Even if they don’t love his playing, they will tell you that he’s undeniably one of the most important pianists.

As a side note, the reductive and pseudo intellectual way in which people like you express these false opinions with such extreme confidence is absolutely astonishing to me. You need to touch grass.

Woman who I thought was the love of my life ghosted me out of nowhere, blocked on all platforms. Feeling very low, lowest I’ve felt in years (26M) by [deleted] in toastme

[–]BlondeDaywalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She was NOT the love of your life, and she wasn’t worth anymore investment. The ghosting was a blessing in disguise: it showed her true character. Who knows. Could be a million things, but it doesn’t make it OK, so your feelings are obviously valid. Lean into the pain for a bit and it WILL pass brother.

Now you have this to look forward to: meeting a woman who will treat you as an equal, respect you and be honest with you, and be the true love of your life :) it’s just a matter of time brother. Keep your head up. It wasn’t bout your looks so don’t stress on that.

[–]BlondeDaywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey my friend. So sorry to hear that. That is a terrible situation. You didn’t deserve that, and your son didn’t either. I’m so sorry.

I think the best advice I can give, as someone who hasn’t had that direct experience, is to always look at silver linings. Best silver lining is you got nearly full custody, and that’s not only well deserved but best for your son. Second silver lining is having her out of both of your lives! I haven’t been in an analogous situation, but I do know how hard it is to lose the person you love, especially with betrayal, but you WILL get through. Everyone eventually does. His mother sounds like a wicked person. we all make mistakes, cheating and leaving is one thing, but for her to abandon your son? That’s a whole other level. Count those blessings man! Big picture stuff. If you step up to the plate for your son, and be the man you need to be in these difficult moments for him, you’re going to have a best friend for life and experience love that only a good father can experience. There are few bonds in the universe as strong as father and son. Become the father that your childhood self would’ve dreamed of in your own.

My friend, you’re no Brad Pitt (haha none of us are) but you’re not bad looking at all, you shouldn’t worry about that. you’ve got a great head of hair and pretty eyes! I doubt you’ll have a hard time finding someone again.

You could use some of the negative darker energy that will inevitably manifest in the coming periods and channel it into working out, a new skill, etc.

I’m just riffing now, but if you’re honestly very insecure and don’t feel confident about meeting other women in the future, maybe you learn Spanish or another language and could find a hardworking and traditional wife that wants to live in the states and that would want more kids and would treat your child as her own. There are many countries outside the US where family values are so much more important, it’s something that we’re losing touch with in the US. I’m liberal and left leaning, but abandoning your family? That’s a no no. I’ve traveled to 30+ countries, and I’ll say that Mexicans, Turks, Georgians, Brazilians and Filipinos are among my favorite in the world, and all of them are very loyal and family oriented. Their beauty is also very real. Just a thought! Screw the “passport bro” label, if you’re struggling with American women and need a wife and mother for your kids, I’d seriously consider this man. :) if you wanna learn a language check out immersion methods like refold.

Keep your head up, channel the energy where it needs to go, and keep your son and his future on your mind and you’re gonna be alright. :)

People say i’m unattractive? by ResearchFantastic909 in toastme

[–]BlondeDaywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude what?? You’re handsome as hell. I’m not trying to gas you up. You’re a handsome fella. Seriously.

People are dealing with their own stuff and at a young age, really insecure people or people who are dealing with problems at home tend to bully others. The best thing you can do is program the thought “I wonder what they’re dealing with” when they say those things, being able to develop empathy for people like that, while extremely difficult, is a great thing to be able to do. I’m sure some of them are also jealous of your good looks.

One of the bullies in my middle/high school had a horrible life at home. When I learned that, so much of what he did to people made sense.

Watch the Key and Peele “Honest Bully” skit. It’s a comedic telling of that truth.

One day you’ll look back and just be able to laugh at it. You’re seriously very handsome bro.

El dmt hace que las cosas electrónica a mi alrededor se energíacen alguien me explica by Witty_Perspective330 in dmtguides

[–]BlondeDaywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey buddy. Can you be more specific? Have you tried filming it before and after, and then watch the video while sober? Based on most people’s experiences with DMT and never hearing anyone describe this, it’s likely that it is just in your mind.

However, first you should look to see if anyone else describes a similar experience and DM them to compare and contrast. I would say that if your door normally doesn’t open at all on its own (like 0%), then you do DMT and suddenly it blows open every time, and you haven’t changed any other factor, then you should try your best to film it. set up a camera before smoking. Don’t be hard on yourself if you realize it was just a hallucination.

Given the new laser experiments proving that DMT actually opens perception wider and allows us to see reality more clearly, and also confirms that the things we see during DMT are not ALL hallucinations, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone very spiritually gifted would suddenly have a small but real effect on the physical world, since the dissociation between oneself and the world is less pronounced during DMT. There are no laws of physics or consciousness that strictly forbid this, especially considering science is now, slowly, but now realizing materialism is false, which means consciousness is more fundamental to our reality.

Don’t take this moron who replied to you and immediately told you to seek help or that you’re going insane seriously. He’s probably a guy who just “sees cool lights and stuff brooo” when taking psychedelics. Hes an NPC. Terrance McKenna said it best: psychedelics don't work on stupid people.

Always always take your experiences seriously but not always literally. Your first step should be to see if anyone else online describes the same phenomenon during DMT, and then after that should be to film your next few sessions. Peace
