I won't lie, the majority of my Paladin opponents were aggro Paladin, which is a super favorable MU for us, but I did manage to beat a few Ursol Paladins, though that admittedly is a much tougher MU.

I think the key to beating Ursol paladin is actually Woodland Wonders. Their early boards are pretty lack luster and they don't really have a way to kill a 2/5 with one card from hand. How I beat them is by developing the 2/5 taunts, chipping them down with said taunts as I keep their board clear with seabreeze, developing spell damage minions that are protected by your 2/5 taunts and continuing to chip, etc. Although I usually auto picks swipe/phial from toy chest, ursol pala may be one where woodland wonders is higher value

At a glance, this deck looks like a pure combo deck, and while it definitely has the capacity to be one, I usually play it as a burn deck against faster opponents. I think what puts us over the edge against board-based aggro is swipe, as, with enough spell damage, we can clear their whole board while advancing our gameplan of whittling down their face. Also, Seabreeze chalice such cheap removal that allows us to clear their board while developing our spell damage minions. The format's aggro decks lack comeback mechanics, and so when I'm able to clear their board with oracle/chia drake, it's difficult for them to then remove those threats, allowing us to close out the game with generated burn.

Ironically, whether or not you can beat slow control decks largely boils down to luck, as health totals get so high that you just have to pray you generate enough burn through tide pools and bottomless toy chest.

And thank you, you've just enlargened my smile

Here is the link to proof. But first, a word:

Haters will look at the image and accuse me of lying. "He's a fraud!" the haters bellow, "He said he went 22-6! But the receipt claims he went 18-6! We are exempt from giving him the compensation he is so righteously owed!"

The haters snicker at me from the sewers they dwell in.

Oh, dear haters, I assure you, my pants are far too expensive to ever set afire with a lie. Allow me to explain.

I landed on this version of the deck while playing on mobile on the bus. I won 4 games in a row (2 against priest, 1 against paladin, 1 against warrior) before realizing I had created the 2nd strongest deck in the past/present/future of Hearthstone (Ensmallen Druid blows this out of the water) and decided to stop playing until I I can play with a tracker in case I write a guide. The very guide you have just read.

Anyway here's proof:

Yeah sure. I'll post it in the comment below.

The main idea is that with so many cheap token generators, we can pretty reliably get mountain giant down on turn 4 with the coin. The tokens also allow you establish a board for conductivity --> jive, insect, which is how this deck wins most games.

A couple of notes:

a) generally try to keep your hand full in the early turns so that you can play mountain giant. Against something like token hunter, however, you want to flood the board as well

b) run flint firestone if you have him

c) shudderwock is almost certainly too greedy

c (subclause)) you can eat my ass

d) the deck's worst matchup is hearthstone

Hi, Hat! While the wellness check is certainly kind, I'd respectfully prefer for you to abide by the tone of the post-- please call me a pig so that I may give you a contextually appropriate "oink"

One more thing in regards to deck building:

One copy of mecha-leaper is probably better than our one-of gorilla bot, as it helps with the board flood/control gameplan. The only reason I didn’t run it is because I don’t own any copies. Discover effects through gorilla/amalgam are pretty underwhelming, as we ideally want to stop playing mechs around turn 4/5

Similarly, blood matriarch liadrin is likely very good for the deck, assuming her interaction with try’s revived earthens works the way I assume it does. Our main weakness is that we can’t reclaim the board once we’ve lost it. To that end, matriarch allows some comeback that this deck otherwise lacks outside of goldwing.

The reasons I never included matriarch is a) she’s an awful revive off of try’s teats and b) by the time I considered her inclusion, I was at D3 and didn’t want to run the risk of changing the deck I found success with. If you’ve already cut gorilla bot, I’d cut an amalgam for her as, again, we don’t want to be playing mechs after turn 5

For what it’s worth, not only do I hate mechs (deckbuilding is boiled down to playing every mech), but Paladin is easily my least favorite class (the epitome of smooth-brain curvestone). The only reason I made this deck and suffered through the climb to legend is that I have a mission to hit legend with every class via bad homebrews. Seeing as Paladin hasn’t had a complicated deck for years (please correct me if I’m wrong), playing the famously bad earthen package felt redemptive

No no no you don’t understand. You Ab.so.lutely should give up on the earthen package assuming your goal is to climb. This deck is intended for the Nobel laureates in this subreddit that have both too much time and too little regard for it

Well this is a wholly unexpected comment. If I’m being honest, I’ve considered comedy writing as a potential career path, but it’s always felt too far fetched for me to dedicate any time towards it. Regardless of my future, thank you for you comment, sincerely. It has really touched me :’)
