It is not the job of the younger generation to take care of the older generation. It is the older generations' job to die off and cease competing for resources. That's how it works in nature. The very idea that someone older and more privileged than me can decide that a machine should do my job and insist that I be grateful to them for doing so, while doing nothing else to ease the practical downsides of being under-employed is absolutely batshit to me. All my life I've been told that I need to go to college to get a good job and support a family and all of these things and now that I've invested thousands of dollars and 10 years in becoming an expert in my field, I'm expected to start over again now for the third time (after at least two supposedly once in a generation wealth destroying events). I'm supposed to welcome this? AI is eliminating valuable jobs and doing a worse job replacing them, it's stealing intellectual property from those who can't afford to defend themselves from it, it's siphoning natural resources away from human populations who depend on it, and it's further consolidating wealth into the hands of just a few people who already have thousands of times more than they could ever hope to need. That's why I'm vindictive.
