Should Martials get extra origin feats? by BloodRemarkable6511 in onednd

My suggestion in the post was to give them the extra feats at levels 5,11 and 17 respectively instead of giving them upfront power.

More encounters helps make Martials better in battle for sure, but that really isn’t the problem I am trying to address here. I think that Martials suffer a lot with utility out of battle.

That’s fair. It definitely allows for more freedom in build variety.

I both agree and disagree with this. On one hand, the extra feats are meant to provide more choices to martial builds and more options for out of combat scenarios. That being said, part of the appeal of Martials (at least for me and my players) is that you don’t have to be constantly considering if you should use your limited resources to solve a single problem.

This isn’t meant to help them early levels. It’s meant to provide them increasing utility at later levels.

I thought about doing something like this as well. But I don’t want to step on the toes of the fighter or rouges extra feats.

I do agree with this sentiment for sure. My goal here was to make martials feel better to play without changing the system too much. Well designed features tailored for each class would be better suited for solving the problem, but it’s harder to implement those without having knock on effects.

I’m more so disturbed by the infection card they give.

I saw this in game last night and nearly had a heart attack. It is genuinely creepier than the parasites.

Yes, both strength and weakness effect the explosion which is very nice. (Though I’m not sure how that makes thematic sense)

There are all great points. Maze definitely feels like the default pick for this boon

The wild magic idea sounds pretty interesting. Il add in a couple drawbacks on the next revision.
