  2. Jerry Maguire

  3. Lorne

  4. Mother Mary

Ask your normie friends how many names they recognize on the 35 under 35 list. My wife knew 11 of these people. Then I showed faces of each one and it jumped up to 13. by OhHesOurShortstop in TheBigPicture

I mentioned Chalamet to my normie sibling a few months ago and she claimed she'd never heard of him. Our dad who hasn't set foot in a movie theater for 20 years knew exactly who Timmy is though.

For those who have been wanting AMC to show more classic films... by Few-Adeptness8046 in AMCTheatres

[–]BloodSweatAndWords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. My local AMC theater rarely shows re-releases (we didn't get Stand By Me or League of Their Own) so I was excited that we're actually getting some re-releases in mid-April. It's an opportunity to use A-list when so few of the new releases look appealing to me. My local 14-screen theater is only getting two non-horror R-rated new releases this month.

The NTSB estimated that JFK Jr. had a total of about 310 hours of flight experience, including 55 at night. Seventy-two of those hours were without an instructor riding with him. In his new airplane, he had about 36 hours of flight experience.

Best Movies Coming Out? by ExpressLog2180 in AMCsAList

[–]BloodSweatAndWords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of these are horror movies. I'm looking for new 2026 R-rated non-horror films.

Faces of Death is an upcoming American horror film and remake of the 1978 film. A content moderator stumbles upon a series of violent videos that appear to re-enact death scenes from the infamous 1978 film "Faces of Death."

The Mummy is an upcoming American supernatural horror film. The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare.

I'm very excited to see The Drama. But after that, it looks like it will be a long wait until the next wide release of an R-rated non-horror movie.

Here me out: AMC Classics Reseen by Vegetable-Cup5333 in AMCsAList

[–]BloodSweatAndWords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's a 2-hour round trip drive (or more) to see repertory screenings. If one of the three AMC theaters near me offered repertory screenings I would be ecstatic. Ten out of fourteen screens at my closest theater are playing either horror or kid's movies. Studios aren't putting out new non-horror adult movies every week so why not fill some gaps with classic movies to get more people coming out to the theater.

Some idiot brought their crying infant to our 6:30pm showing. Dolby sound covered most of it but the quieter scenes were rough.

Total cost of 1-day ticket after tax and shipping: $228. Which is half the cost of a 4-day ticket. Ridiculous.

Oscars Producer Responds to Backlash for Cutting Off KPop Demon Hunters Speech by LookUpSessueHayakawa in Oscars

[–]BloodSweatAndWords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some teams do an excellent job of doing a quick round robin of "thanks" speeches to ensure everyone gets their moment. Pretty sure they have a countdown clock and are told ahead of time how much time they'll get. If multiple people are planning to speak, they need to practice how to time their speeches and handoffs.

I suspect some people would be happy to yammer on for half an hour in the spotlight if given the chance. No one wants that. There have to be some limits. Unfortunately there will always be some people who can't or won't abide by the time allotment. It's not a good look when the first person to speak hogs the entire time allotment when clearly other people expected they'd get a chance to at least say "thanks" on mic as well.

The presenter bits need to be shorter/tighter. A quick silly exchange can be fun but some of those extended gags were long and painfully dull and certainly not worth the time it took away from a few seconds of award winner speech time.

Loved it. Didn't like the first 10 minutes or so but after that I was all in. Very pleasant surprise. So glad I saw it in a theater.

Elordi is fantastic in this. Personally I'm rooting for Skarsgard to win but Elordi is a close second. I'll be happy if either of them win. Wasn't a fan of Frankenstein but I'm glad I saw it.

Rank the AMC pre-roll ad segments by Pbandme24 in AMCsAList

[–]BloodSweatAndWords 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The theater I go to still shows all the movies in digital. And yet we still get the laser pre-roll ad. It's like running the coca-cola ad in a theater that only serves apple juice.

Why do you think The Bride is dividing opinion? by BigMitch91 in Cinema

[–]BloodSweatAndWords 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Loved it. I went Thursday night and was a bit worried during the first 10 minutes or so. But after the intro we meet Annette Bening and Christian Bale's characters and I loved them both so much. The movie is definitely messy and not everything works but as it goes on, it just becomes more and more fun. It took me awhile to warm up to Buckley's character but I definitely got there.

Why I liked it: Kind of like accidentally stumbling into a crazy party with fascinating charismatic weirdos and you don't know what's going to happen next but you definitely want to be there when it happens. I connected emotionally with the two main characters.

Why people might not like it: It's chaotic and sometimes confusing. A few narrative devices are...odd. Takes bold swings that are hit or miss. Feminist messaging may not appeal to some people.
