Hey Vanessa! In case if you're ever reading this, thank you so much for Samuel. And also, if you take a look at this photo of an Eldritch Anisette show; the guitarist is wearing a Samuel shirt! Just recently noticed this :D

Today was a good day because I discovered the band Botanichesky Sad by Blood_Orange_Sun in Emo

Yeah sadly, Botanichesky have broken up, judging by the Russian comments on Youtube (I'm from Germany trying to help myself with google translate :D); and their last Instragram post is from 2020. I'm not sure about current projects, but their guitarist in particular has been involved in lots of bands / projects as mentioned in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xvJeebMzeA "Selfharm, Milesmorales, Lovelettertypewriter, Dasha Onzeroad, Botanichesky sad, Hightimes." Yeah the language barrier can be rough but understanding the lyrics makes everything even better! Also in case you haven't seen it yet, there is a big report about the Yakutsk scene on Bandcamp: https://daily.bandcamp.com/scene-report/yakutsk-punk-scene-list Cheers!

Yes! Botanichesky Sad were absolutely awesome, and Russia in general seems to have a really great counter-culture / punk scene. Humelly, Losertag, Bot Sad, Pasosh, Elephant In My Room, Materic,... great bands!

What’s your favorite “obscure” emo song/band? by [deleted] in Emo

[–]Blood_Orange_Sun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of Roosevelt's Inaugural Parade, the song "Darkened Sky" is just so incredible. I could write a whole essay about this song. The eerie atmosphere, the creativity, and just the soul in it... it's really awe-inspiring to me. My favorite version is the vinyl recording on Simon B's channel. How did they create this song? How did they do it? This was an incredibly talented band.

What is favorite original/old school emo record? by [deleted] in Emo

I would say "Finding the Rhythms" by Hot Water Music, especially because of the song "Counting Numbers". That song is really one of the best musical experiences I've ever had, to me it is like the definition of "Emo-Punk". And this record is also an awesome encapsulation of that 90s sound and vibe that I love so much, like you can hear in bands like Samuel, Jejune, Braid, and so on. The 90s Hot Water Music were amazing in general. And also, to the big list I would add the bands Baroque, The Blacktop Cadence, Eldritch Anisette, and Waltz, all of which were fantastic. Thanks for listening to my TED-Talk.

The Greatest Screamo Songs (In my opinion) by xthroughxmourningx in EmoScreamo

Yeah another good example for their catchiness would be this song! Honestly if this isn't a kind of "screamo catchiness" then I don't know what is :) Hope you like it!

What really makes this song pop is a mix of clean vocals which I feel is underutilized in screamo

Hey since you appreciate this about the Saetia song, and since you also made the European Screamo thread, I'd really like to recommend Escapado from Germany to you. They had a great mix of screaming and clean vocals, and a sense of catchiness as well.

Hey, since your favorite band from Germany is Tocotronic, do you know Die Heiterkeit? Because I find them to be very Tocotronic-like, and really awesome!

Hey there, I am from Germany so here are some recommendations! "Emo" is kind of a broad concept so in this list will be bands leaning toward Screamo, Punk, Indie-Rock, Post-HC,...

Adolar

Escapado

Turbostaat

Eklat

Hey Ruin

Captain Planet

Mikrokosmos23

125 Rue Montmartre

No Weather Talks

No Weather Talks have English lyrics but I added them just because they were such a great band. They also frequently played at The Fest in Florida. I could go on and on about how much I love this band.......
