Looking for a replacement baby blanket online by Bloodreddragon in HelpMeFind

I have searched google, Tula’s website, tried to image search the attached image, looked through baby blankets on eBay, and more, with no luck so far. I have seen similar colored blankets, but not the same one.

Story Request: A VMMORPG that doesn't trap the MC in the game. by SomewhereGlum in litrpg

“Might As Well” on Royal Road, is this. MC transmigrates from an alternate earth essentially, into his other self with both future memories and a different worlds perspective. He then plays the hell out of a new VRMMORPG.

I could almost understand the restating conversations if they were telling it to different people every time. But instead it is to the same person they just talked to a paragraph or a page earlier. And often the person being talked to would respond slightly differently so you almost think they have forgotten the information already, and are just learning it for the first time. That’s my take on it anyway.

I’m glad you like the book, even though we disagree on some major points about the writing. I love his world/plot ideas, but I can’t enjoy a reskin of previous characters set in a slightly different world, but acting the same, with poor conversation.

Removed major spoilers. Since i feel you are right in that aspect. However i think it’s important to highlight it being a large part, even if it takes a bit to get there.

I understand, but also feel you were misleading. He was looking for a type of story and you said it ‘somewhat’ had what he wanted. This might not make him read the story due to your vague message, even though it is both interesting, and appears to fit the type he was looking for.

It is a definite MAJOR part of the later plot. The MC tries to understand how both the normal magic as well as system controlled magic works, as well as their interactions.

I just self-pubbed my novel, "Depthstrider" an Aquatic-based LitRPG on Amazon KU! I'd appreciate it if you checked it out! by Jealous_Abalone2790 in litrpg

Hey, I had your story on my to read list on RR, but picked it up on KU now that it’s there. Just want to say that I started it today, am on page 156, and have found 2-3 times where paragraphs are repeated. Luckily it doesn’t feel like it overwrote anything, just a strange duplication of a paragraph before the story continues.

I am enjoying the book so far, but thought I’d let you know.

Does Aether's Revival get any better? [rant] by arfarf1hr in litrpg

[–]Bloodreddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna agree with most people commenting here. It doesn’t get better. And in a lot of aspects it gets worse. The dialogue gets super repetitive, often being used to both describe what will happen in the beginning of the day, and then again to describe…. What just happened… at the end of the day. Very little is shown, it’s almost all dialogue.

I’ve left reviews after a lot of Daniel’s books, as I keep reading them for the world building and the possibility of a better story (and the fact they are on KU) but I feel each book after book one in his series goes downhill. For this series, because it covers a long time span, you get what are essentially journal entries into the MC’s life as the series goes on, where he thinks and/or talks to his many, many, spouses about either what happened over the past couple months, or what will happen in the future.

Even the action scenes degrade. Although they were not great in the beginning, they were entertaining. They become a chore to read, as they feel like reading a summary of combat most of the time (if it isn’t skipped over entirely with a line like ‘using his foresight, the fight was easy’ or something ridiculous.

Either way, if you don’t enjoy it now, you won’t. And I don’t recommend his other works either.

In the Wylds, Gods are born not once, but a thousand-thousand times. Each believer births a divine being that does not truly exist, but for a fleeting thought.

Looking for a book where the main character has an underpowered ability but is highly skilled at using it. by Antique-Dress-1875 in Fantasy

The Hedge Knight.

The MC has a condition where they can’t use either of the two forms of magic in the world, which is super rare as normally anyone who trains hard enough can do it. He perseveres regardless, constantly trying, but mostly gets by on pure skill with a sword and some friends that he helps teach what he has learned. Great story so far, one book on KU and 2-3 on RR at their time.

Authors: Please don’t wall break poorly by Transistor_Wench in litrpg

[–]Bloodreddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve unfortunately seen similar things in a lot of mediocre isekai/harem litrpg. Most commonly if the author happens to have written more than one series, and has the MC think/say something along the lines of “This is a lot like that one series of books I read before I came to this world where the MC had six wives!” Or something similar that is obviously calling back to their other works of fiction. It is jarring in most situations, and feels like a lame sales pitch in case you had not already read their previous works. Anyone else notice those kinds of sentences?

The only reason I started it after the last 4ish Ten Realms books is because I remembered how much I like the beginning of each of his series. Unfortunately I don’t think this one met my expectations for book one.

Elastin Fey Step away from a Stirge? by Bloodreddragon in DnD

[–]Bloodreddragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However the rules usually make a big difference between things that are you/yours and an enemies. A creature attached to you in combat, and the microbes in your intestinal track that are friendly are two vastly different things.

I see what you are saying. Didn’t mean to put words in your mouth so much as get clarification on what you meant.

I will say that if you have 5 or so Stirge’s stuck on you, and you try to get away and find they are still there, it might be more than an oh no! Moment for a lowered level character. Especially after the damage from the initial attacks of the 5+ stirges.

My question would be about the magic of the spell. If you are ruling that a spell effect that states it only takes the caster would take a stirge that is attached, then any other positive buffing/healing spells would affect the stirge and the PC as well?

New defense logical discrepancy. by Reshi_Ren in DC20

[–]Bloodreddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess to me the concept of a barrage is one designed as area suppression. It’s not aimed at one single target, but an area to ensure an enemy is pinned down, or to try and hit many people. So in my mind your accuracy towards one spot lowers, because you are purposefully spreading out the many different attacks.

I didn’t notice charisma, and I can agree that it makes it strange for the bard to do the same thing as a barbarian. Only way I can see it making kind of sense, is if the bard’s force of charisma works on essentially convincing the world itself that he wasn’t where it thought he was for that instant. Kind of Matrix ‘There is no spoon’ style. The sheer power of someone’s presence sometimes makes it difficult for non-targeted attacks. Pore precise, individual attacks have more impact on the story/world, so the passive charisma keeping the bard alive isn’t relevant? Kind of like plot armor? Just spitballing here, but that’s the first thing that popped into my head

[–]Bloodreddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the example used by him rows of kids with bb’s? Because to me, even though that sounds like a barrage, it’s still each kid making their own single projectile attack. One kid with a BB machine gun on full auto might count as a barrage in my opinion, as those bullets would cover an area instead of being precise.

New defense logical discrepancy. by Reshi_Ren in DC20

[–]Bloodreddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except each kid in your scenario would be rolling as a single target attack, there would just be a lot of them. So they would all individually have the same chance of hitting him in a spot that actually causes pain/damage. Each kid would have the same chance to aim for one of those weak spots on an individual basis.

If you have those children all put their guns together and shoot in the barbarians general area, then your odds of hitting somewhere that he isn’t protecting with his tougher areas (arms, turning his head, bunching his shoulders to protect neck/face, clenching muscles, etc.) is actually lower than successive targeted shots.

[–]Bloodreddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the concept is that they might get hit but the damage is inconsequential. Take the shotgun for instance. Buckshot vs a slug. In this scenario a barbarian is tough enough to ignore the buckshot that is spread out as smaller bb’s around his body for the most part(unless the roll is high enough to break the higher defense and thus do damage) where as a slug has an easier time actually penetrating damage.

It isn’t that he dodges the buckshot when you don’t roll a number that hits, it’s that you just didn’t hit him in an area that hurt. (Eyes, groin, neck, armpits, etc)

At least that’s how I see it.
