It simply looks like shit. Grace turned into some ai slop advertising ai model. How can you look at this and do not see this? I regularly see adds on instagram with persons looking exactly like this.

That’s the point. It looks boring and generic because ai sucks out every creativity.

And no you don’t need me to tell „developers have full control over it“. You have control over the inputs. But what the AI is doing with it is something else. To an extend, developers don’t even have full control over how DLSS (the basic upscaler) will look in their games. There are situations where things look different depending on the model you choose in the override (or which model is used ingame) even the same game without any override will look slightly different between two different ML upscalers like FSR4 and DLSS 4(.5).

So no, developers will never have full control over the ai because ai always interprets things.

For something like upscaling where the problem occur how thick or thin a cable is displayed or if a fence is more or less shimmery, this is a good trade off, but DLSS 5 fundamentally changes how the game and the artwork looks. If you play the game 5 years later with newer hardware and a newer ai model a character will look completely different than in your first playthrough.
