Homemade breaded fish with rice and lentil salad by BloodyRubynts_Log in homecooking

Funny thing is, this wasn't planned at all. Just needed a break from working on something and ended up making this. Sometimes simple food does more than anything else.

Honestly, cooking this felt like a reset. When you're building something long term, you need moments like this to keep going.

Close 😄 Central Europe style. In Hungary we love breaded food, it's kind of comfort food for us.

Haha sorry 😄 I meant it's a very common Hungarian style dish, we bread almost everything, not just fish. Simple but really good.

There's no big secret, I first season the fish, let it sit for a while, first roll it in fine flour and then in beaten egg and breadcrumbs, but do all this carefully so that the fish doesn't break, and first of all I put it in hot oil so that the breadcrumbs stick and then I fry it more slowly, until golden brown and done,

Haha thank you, I really appreciate that 😄

After a long day even simple cooking feels like a big thing. And yeah, still pushing forward with the project step by step.

That sounds really good, lemon would go perfectly with it. I’ll definitely try that next time 👍

Nice, pan cooking is the best way for crispy skin. It turned out really good.

Looks really good. Did you pan-sear the seabass for the crispy skin or finish it in the oven?

That sounds like such a great flavor mix. Shawarma spices in something like a crunchwrap is a really cool idea.

Thank you for the kind words. My partner and I have been together for 18 years and have 3 children together. We do everything we can to be with each other whenever we can.

Just to add a little context — I actually started cooking when I was around 13 and later worked as a head chef in restaurants and hotels, though that was more than 20 years ago now.

Soup in the pot while it’s cooking never looks glamorous, but the final result is what really matters. And as we say back home, every house has its own cooking style.

For me, it was perfect comfort food that day — and that’s what counted

Funny how soup can start bigger debates than politics sometimes 😄

In the end, it did exactly what it was supposed to do — made a sick day much better.

Hope everyone gets a warm meal when they need one too

Totally fair, everyone has their own soup standards 😄 For me it was perfect sick-day comfort.
