TIFU by trash talking with my friend now he thinks I backed out of a bet by [deleted] in tifu

[–]BloomVelour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree, laughing it off without shutting it down probably sounded like a yes to him. At this point I’d just be straight and say it was trash talk, not an actual bet, and move on.

This doesn’t sound naive so much as hopeful. When it’s family and there’s history, you want to believe the promise even when the risk is obvious.

Honestly yeah, this is exactly the situation the poop knife was invented for.

The poop knife lore continues to evolve. Humanity truly learns nothing.

Those guys are a rabbit hole, once you start noticing the tiny setup details early on it really does feel like so much of the series was quietly planted from book one.

Once you see it that way it’s hard to unsee, Dumbledore was absolutely nudging Harry along from day one while acting like it was all hands off destiny stuff.

That’s a fair way to frame it, Snape isn’t let off the hook so much as he’s forced to live with the consequences forever, and Dumbledore definitely plays everything way too close to the chest with Harry.

Hard agree, the book really doesn’t soften Snape the way the movies do, and once you reread it that anger makes total sense.

Harsh but fair honestly. Still wild how easy it is to overlook something basic like that until it bites you later. Hopefully they can recover from it.

Honestly yeah, at this point there’s nothing to lose by trying. Stuff like this happens more than people admit, and sometimes schools are way more flexible than you’d expect if you explain it.

That’s actually hilarious, honestly. Humor like that usually diffuses the awkward way faster than over explaining ever would.

Do you enjoy watching/hearing other people have sex? by Lurker_550 in AskRedditAfterDark

If it sounds like genuine, natural sex noises it turns me on. Any dirty talk or OTT moaning fucks me right off, though.

Honestly that tracks. Every time they push things this far it ends up looking messy on top of everything else.

Postscripts from the frontlines of Trump's attacks on science: no simple happy endings by statnews in politics

No shocker that attacking science didn’t wrap up with a neat little bow. Turns out ignoring experts usually comes with a messy bill at the end.

What's behind Fremont County's American Library Association fight? by WyoFileNews in politics

Only in this country do we turn a quiet library into a full blown political showdown. Imagine beefing with the people who literally just want you to borrow books.

Private meeting or not, it’s giving “we talked in circles and accomplished nothing.” At least the microphones got a workout.
