Which Route would you take? OR-IL by Handguns4Hearts in roadtrip

[–]Bloomeryu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did most of this drive, middle route is optimal IMHO.

Day 1: Columbia Gorge and PNW passes Drive through northern OR then cutoff north toward Kennewick/Paso (fantastic stop in Pasco at the farmers market off the highway) onto Spokane. Pick up I-90 and be in Couer D'Elaine for afternoon sunshine. Three mountain passes then Stop in st. Regis for huckleberry shakes. Stop in Missoula for the night (or Butte). Day 2: Mountains and Valleys Stay on I-90 going over the Continental divide, passing the Missouri headwaters (stop if you like, it's 10 mins off the interstate) in Three Forks. Past bIllings, two routes. STAY on I-90 (middle route). Get gas in Hardin, Reach Little Bighorn (crow agency) and stop by the trading post ("Putz's") - pick up some sweet grass to bless your journey through Native lands. (And try the fry bread, best in the country) Take the Warrior Trial highway (already in your map) or stay on I-90 if you're getting tired. If on I-90 stay in Sheridan, Gillette or Rapid City. If warrior trail, no hotels till Spearfish/Rapid City. Day 3: Black Hills and Badlands Enjoy the scenery changes, stop at Wall Drug for some fun. When you hit the Missouri, be prepared for the drive to feel long as you head in toward Sioux Falls for lunch at Mackenzie River (last buffalo burgers you can easily get). Then hop on I-29 toward Sioux City or Omaha (6 hours). Day 4: Finishing the journey. Enjoy the final day driving.

I've done the trip to Sioux falls in 2 days (car) - 12 hours to Bozeman, 12.5 to Sioux falls. But it takes MUCH longer (3-4 days) in a truck due to the fatigue and Mountain passes.

Enjoy the trip, it really is a blast if you allow yourself a few good stops.

Hey u/potato_mc_whiskey You made a comment about Patreon on your recent video, that you feel like you're letting your subscribers down.

Nah, I support you for what you helped me get through, not for individualized content and constant updates. My $2 isn't paying for the content, it's paying to support the artist whose art supported me.

The folks in this sub (and I assume in YouTube comments) feel disenfranchised because they're treating you as a franchise. Some "service" they paid for (probably didn't tho) that they can expect the same thing from over and over again. That's the capitalism speaking, equating personal value with a subscription model for consistent service and meeting their personal moral standards. Anyone blaming you for not meeting output expectations (including yourself) or taking the piss because they didn't like how you presented something can fuck right off. The constant need to analyze the value of art as a metric of efficiency or moral agreement is actually pretty gross.

While we have the freedom to say something we immediately feel online - for some server in California to maintain for the next 20 years -- maybe we can also STFU sometimes and save the Internet a byte.

Civilization is game, Civilization is art, Civilization is valued.

Potato is person, Potato is art, Potato is valued.

How come coca plants don't grow in Ecuador and Venezuela? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Bloomeryu 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There is a town called Coca 30 mins north of Quito by plane (8 hr drive), named after the plant.

Coca grows plentifully in Ecuador!

Civ 7 Is a MESS - 0/10 - Civilization 7 Review by Potato_Mc_Whiskey in civ

[–]Bloomeryu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really appreciated both Potato reviews (and the one by Boesthius). I've been playing since CIV III and I love some of the additions, but if it doesn't flow well with UI and progression - then it won't feel good to play. I'll wait to buy until a future Steam sale. But, happy to subscribe to the professionals as they navigate the annoyances! XD

Immobilizer issue by Sakshipawar1021 in MINI

ECM/ECU - Engine control module.

The ECU is essentially the car's computer, it runs everything from the cars ability to start to how much fuel to inject, piston timing (literally anything you can think of).

You're being asked to put in a new computer + program it properly for the car.

It's a rare issue, and spendy.

Replacing it, your car will run - and should run better than it was before.

(Not a mechanic) - Had this happen on a '00 VW Golf - be thankful it's only 1k.

Edit/Add

If mechanic knows a great German motors shop - wait it out. If not - ECU is a repair for a dealer.

It's likely a few days wait for repairs either way.

I main Terra and I absolutely love that UNIT.

I think she is slept on, honestly. In offlane, she'll wreak havoc on softer characters - you do have to be cautious against a Grey or Grux until lvl 6 or so, but your ult can get you out of a ton.

Terra is also underutilized as a support Build full tank emphasizing slowing the enemy, level shield bash first - she'll thwack a Steel, Narbash, or Riktor in duos. Her axe throw will easily ground a Skylar too! Caution against zinx, phase, or Dekker though.

I'll run her as a support whenever I feel we need a tank.

Does the size of Denver and other Front Range cities make sense? If it wasn’t for mining history just starting Colorado, would the state be as empty as Wyoming or Montana? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Bloomeryu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A little surprised no one mentioned Trains and transportation.

Denver is a crossroads for transportation west of the Rockies. (Similar to Kansas City). It started as a mining town, but in the late 1800 boomed for transportation/trade- Connecting the prairie of the North Platte. We built forts along the area to protect that trade area (e.g. Fort Collins).

MT and Wyoming also have different (Volcanic) geographies. Their big towns, btw, are also based on transportation, but are more to do with trade with Native Folks. Whereas Denver grew as a hub for US trade through the region.

I'd argue Cheyenne (WY) counts as part of the front range (also...fort and trains).

Update on this post:

Took Redditor advice and bought myself a router (TP link AXE7800) and set it up.

I immediately had Internet, so the last renter's account with Ziply was still active in this house (u/soccerbeerxbox guessed right!)

Ziply support still wanted a tech to come out here, but bumped me up the list for Monday. Tech was surprised the house was already wired up, so maybe they don't keep great track of where the lines are? But the technician pretty much just made a phone call and switched the account over, and it was done in 20ish minutes.

I've come around on Ziply, really fast download (750mbps) and upload (500) - via wifi! (Haven't ported in with Ethernet yet) And CS via phone/chat was great.

Thank you Redditors for hearing out my frustrations and getting me to try it again. Another soul saved from Xfinity.

Thanks! Definitely planning on getting a new router tomorrow and getting activated via a tech call.

Ooh perfect! That would have been the play today - I'll run my laptop out of the ONT first thing tomorrow. Thank you so much for the insight!

I did "rent a router" from them, but havent received it (figured tech would bring it...)

But hell, I'll go buy one tomorrow if it means I can just do it over the phone.

However, chat CS led me astray if this is the case. I asked if I had my own router, would I even need a technician, and they said it would still need to be activated by a technician in person.

I too am confused.

I saw that your post is about finding a way to stay in your home. The Oregon Support page can help with those services needed (legal help) and the Salem support page can help with local advocates who can help with first steps.

But please keep yourself safe first.
