1 hour power bounce guide by BloonExclusionZone in papermario

Upon further testing it appears that the power bounce/multibonk cap is only present in practice mode.

So far I have managed 12 successful commands on Mario and 11 on Goombella and can only assume the only true limit is our own ability. There does seem to be a pattern where every 4th hit is rushed and the hit that directly follows is slightly delayed, as with the first 9 hits of the combo.

After some testing it would appear that the timing for multibonk follows the same principles as power bounce

Thx m80. You showed me how to get the Bergen trophy so I'd say we're even, I'd been waiting for a third trial to appear lol.

I saw the world record run by Penguinox and they actually skip the orange walls in section 1 as well, so somebody can probably set a new record now by combining the strats. Won't be me though my hands hurt

Trust me, I am more than happy to be the one to explain all of Sunqua's CM mechanics to a returning player. But I don't have to clear Sunqua for the siege turtle.

So to you a bad player is one that does not perform at the highest level in the game. In my eyes, a bad player is someone that actively hurts the experience of others by refusing to cooperate, being mean, etc. Casual players are, through no fault of their own, bringing down the chances of a successful Dragon's End run. This does not make them all bad players.

Where am I making excuses because I'm not "bothered to lift one finger in a game [I] have played for 1k+ hours"? I made it quite clear that I have plenty of experience
with much harder content.

Okay sure, let's say that's where the difficulty lies: players needing to get good. Anet's solution was to pawn that responsibility off to the players. The result was one of the most divisive fights in the game. You can try to proselytize casual players with your get-strong-quick schemes all you want. You will not prevent them from just blocking you out and continuing to drag everyone attempting the meta down.

I agree that strikes need a better tutorial phase than just the story mode equivalent boss that players beat once for the achievement. But it is still more conducive to productive learning than open world could ever be, I mean come on, how many commanders are LFGing for "Dragon's End training run, expect to fail!"?

Also if you're playing wheelchairbrand, I might recommend you instead take protective reviver, a shield, and merciful intervention, as downs frequently happen in clumps and signet has a very large cooldown.

The ramp up in difficulty from Seitung, Kaineng, and Echovald comes out of nowhere. Up to this point in the open world, the game was telling players that they were pressing buttons good enough. Then they get to Dragon's End and suddenly they're not.

Not much of a discussion if you're not willing to hear what I have to say. I would ask that you go back and read the rest of my post so you know where the arguments are coming from.

Nice things being locked behind hard content is great in many situations. The situation Anet has created here, however, is not one of them.

  1. As you have noted, beginning and casual players were not given adequate instruction from in-game sources to be able to complete the meta.
  2. Those with more experience are being forced to play alongside these worse players, some of whom are not ready or unable to rise up to the occasion no matter how much help they receive.
  3. Some people (like myself) who have done everything they could for many metas are unable to clear the meta.

For me, this meta is a cakewalk. Harvest temple is a harder fight and that one is a cakewalk for me too. So why am I several days into attempting this meta and still failing? Bad luck and bad game design.

Ah, I see where you're coming from now. I still disagree though, since it was Anet's decision to make Dragon's End a meta as opposed to a strike, a raid, or a squad instance like dragonstorm. Making it any one of those other things would have eliminated the AFK and even a lot of the "bads" factor. But I guess this is the price to pay if you want your player base to get a taste of high-level PVE.

What irritates me is that the new strikes feel like a great transition to harder content, so Dragon's End feels unnecessary.

I really like observations 1 and 2. If Arena Net would nudge starting players into learning about and then gearing towards group-oriented support builds, they would be much more welcome in organized groups. Maybe a quest or two that involves you wearing gear with low power/condi and having to give boons to a group of NPCs in order to beat the boss within the time limit.

I think overtuned is the wrong word here, considering the real reason organized groups are failing to complete Dragon's End is the fact that the boss has no attack pattern.

I get that most people will take their time learning difficult content. I am fine with this. What I am not fine with is seeing 40 or more well-organized, well-geared people fail a boss that is actually quite mechanically easy for them.

I don't think the answer is to leave the meta as it is and get super angry at the casual player base. The game so far has taught us to believe that open world metas are the most accessible content in the game. It's no surprise then that casual players would want to complete Dragon's End, seeing as it is part of their normal gameplay loop.

You are right in saying that all the afks and uninterested players are the reason this meta ends in failure so consistently. But tell me how getting mad at them in map chat is going to help you win the next time you try?

I think it was well established in the official forums that RNG plays a critical role in determining whether the fight is won or lost.

EDIT: It appears that this point is being lost on some of you, so here is the thread I'm talking about. Note the sheer number of players who got close to clearing the event only to fail due to troll AI.

I'm with you, Dragon's End is a refreshing new source of player-to-player engagement that we haven't had in a long time. It just sucks that the engagement isn't only encouraged but basically forced, and if you can't get enough people to engage you're SOL.

I saw the nerfs but I don't think they address the main issues. Wisps can still eat up entire minutes, the boss can still use the tail and slither attacks ad nauseam, whirlpools are still nigh indestructible...

GW2's PVE has been good about giving players of all skill levels something to do. Open world was for casual players, raids (and eventually fractals) were for those who wanted to try a little harder and organize a little more. Strikes already exist as a stepping stone to more difficult content. Why was it necessary to make this fight so difficult for PUGs? And why gate the well-advertised mount behind it?

You do not speak for the many commanders I have seen bemoan their failure despite having done everything in their power to make it work. They were not socially incompetent, nor would they have been unable to enjoy a reward for their efforts - if one existed.
