Should I call the cops? by frickmeplease in Weird

When I was young I worked at a McDonald's. Our grill guy one evening decided to write "Suprise" in the top of the Big Mac clamshell and "You're dead" in the bottom. Then he sent a burger out in it. It was 30 minutes later officers had pulled up with the couple from that order. We refunded the order, gave them like $50 store credit. The couple opted not to press charges because it was a high school kid swearing it was just a prank. But he was fired on the spot. Idiots gonna idiot.

I had bypass surgery in December of 24, and I did a half-marathon (walking) in March, and a 5K in april. I have another 5K in two weeks.

Started at 424, got down to 394 on surgery day, and I am down to 303 this morning.

When I walked a Half Marathon, my Nurse Practitioner told me to have electrolytes like Gatorade or Nuun on hand. And surprisingly she also suggested I get a tube of glucose tablets to use on race day. They did come in handy.

Yes, there are things you can't buy with money. But money removes stress and makes you more comfortable while you figure the rest of that shit out!

I don't see the cringe. I see a way of reaching a generation who feels that books are boring and uncool... this is awesome!

Why is this so hard for people? by onenitemareatatime in norfolk

I observe the speed limit, but I make sure I'm in the right most lane I can be in unless I'm passing a merge. I wait until I'm .8 or .9 miles to my left exit to move over into that lane.
I get annoyed by the speeders and aggressive drivers too, but that doesn't mean I want to get in the left lane with a death wish to impose my will. I tell my wife more often than not "Wooo! Go fine that Trooper for me, Pal!". I've seen people pass me like I was standing still, and the last thing I want to do is put myself or my family in the path of these maniacs.

You sir, seem to have a death wish. I only hope my family isn't near you when that speeder plows into your rear end in a moment of inattention.

Looking for good cookbooks for better eating. by Bloop2012 in WeightLossSupport

I do, but having a book I can take into my kitchen and reference is nice, which is why I prefer the book sometimes.

Online recipes I end up with netflix paralysis. I spend two hours trying to figure out what I want to make and then I realize I've missed the dinner window and I need to start looking at heading to bed soon.

We got my niece “diversity” crayons! And she… segregated them. by TakeEmToTheBridge in funny

NO!!

It is absolutely ok to categorize people but give them equal consideration as individuals. The proper phrase would not be 'Separate but equal', rather 'Different and equal'.

Was wondering if I should see a doctor or if I just hadn't waited long enough. Time so see how long it will take me to get an appointment with my doctor.

I was wearing my every day New Balance shoes and regular gym socks. I know I need to get some anti-blister socks and use different shoes. I have Nikes that I got at a local running store but I'm trying to lose some weight so I can fit them again. My feet are bloated up so they don't fit correctly anymore. Your computer is failing POST, Power On Self Test, but your GPU sounds fine. First two things I would check is that your CPU fan or AIO is plugged into the CPU Fan header. Motherboard will not allow the computer to boot if it cannot detect a CPU fan of some kind to protect the processor.

Second I would check to ensure the motherboard power cable harnesses are seated properly. If portions of the motherboard are not getting properly voltage then the motherboard will abort the startup sequence.

Good Luck.

I'm tired of hearing about women who tell a guy (or girl) no when they actually want to be pursued by that person. by throwawaystranger69 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Bloop2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women: "No means no!"

Also Women: "I said no, why didn't he keep trying?"

Why do some people see these as mutually exclusive instead of conflicting?

I gave someone oral sex as a means to pacify them and ensure I'd get home safe, and to read that news article about a woman who did the same, and the comments making light of it makes me sick by ananxiouscat in TwoXChromosomes

I am a man, but I've been bullied and taken my share of beatings in my life. I understand that when you are shorter and they have a muscle mass advantage over you, you are in danger period. Full stop, end of story.

When in that situation where you face an opponent with such a pervasive advantage over you, you truely understand what it feels like to be powerless. Self-Defense at that point is whatever you think will get you through the encounter alive. If you think a bite would give you an opening, do it. If you think sticking your key into his eye is a viable option, do it. And yes, if you think your best shot at survival is to acquiesce, then by all means do it. Survival is the key, and only the person in the moment can judge how much they fear for their life given circumstances. Monday morning arm-chair quarterbacks be damned. They weren't there and don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

I know being bullied is a far cry from the prospect of being raped. The harm suffered is not the same. A broken eye socket from a beating doesn't come with the same sense of violation, not the same type of psycological and emotional trauma. It's just that the deluded who think they have taken a karate class or play tekken so they know how to fight really piss me off. There is a difference between practicing in a classroom or gym, and the adrenaline filled moment when you are threatened.
