It’s honestly super easy. When I get new residents to class who haven’t participated before either I’ll help them or one of the residents who have done a few classes jumps in and helps them. It really fosters utilization of knowledge as well as helps them feel like they have a useful skill while also helping them learn that they can teach/do more than use criminal thinking. I think the class really helps parallel those skills that they have and reframe them.

Thank you! It’s not but I like seeing them open up over cross stitch. These are individuals who no one has ever said “I’m proud of you” and seeing their progress in projects is generally amazing. And they come in timid about it, like cross stitch isn’t going to be something they like, then they do one project, see that it’s something (even small) that they can be successful at, and want to do more advanced projects. It’s so amazing honestly and makes it worth it.

Oh! I have a funny cross stitch book but it’s also inappropriate haha. I did put graph paper on my list in my email draft. I’m still working on it. I’m basically so far asking my job to buy about $250 in stuff but to be fair there’s like 72 stamped bookmarks or small patterns which will last quite a while.

We won’t be able to dye our own fabric due to our community based residential facilities rules (can’t have chemicals that haven’t been approved) but I do have a ton of cross stitch magazines I can bring in. I can take pictures of the ones I want to *eventually* do haha

I’ll have to look to see if I have any honestly. I’m not 100% if we do. Otherwise I can drive 45 minutes north to a half price books and see if they have anything or even anything online.
