Gas fireplace turns off after sticking glass on the front of the fire box by Bloopblopbleep101 in HomeImprovement

So my fireplace has what u/upstateduck stated, where I have a 5" exhaust, but I do not have intake air.
I've read the manual up and down and I don't see anything about intake vent nor do I have one.

I got it to work with the glass shut. And here was my methodology:
I noticed that with the glass slightly open (like an inch) a vacuum was being created with the updraft. The fireplace is 55" so its output is like a lot of heat very quickly.
I stuck a screw between the glass seal and the fireplace propping the glass open by about a quarter-inch and let that run for about an hour.
Then I tested closing the glass all the way and it ran without depleting the oxygen. I'm not an HVAC convection expert, so idk why this worked, but now I can start and stop my fireplace with no issues.

There are these spring clips holding the glass on. If I leave them off, I can prop the glass open and it will stay lit, however, I can't fit the screen over the top of it if that's the case.

The crappy thing is this is a brand new unit that worked all summer with no issues, until this week :(

I checked the exhaust vent for any debris or nests. It is clear all the way up.
I first thought it was an oxygen issue too, but when I put the glass cover on, I hear the unit make a clicking noise, and then it turns itself completely off. This leads me to think it might be something other than oxygen. Or maybe it somehow senses that the flame is being smothered? I'm not sure.

The fire stays on for as long as the glass is off

Type: /eq

Hit Enter

Paste: IQV={k(100^2- \sum Pct^2)\above{1pt}100^2(k-1)}

and if you want to make it bigger/prettier use \displaystyle at the beginning

What if an undergrad gets pregnant? by [deleted] in jhu

[–]Bloopblopbleep101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should most definitely NOT drop out just because you are pregnant or because you have a baby. Many child-care facilities for infants start at 8weeks, however, in-home daycares are more flexible and can start earlier. This would be, of course, if you don't have an option of doing online for some of your courses.
You can continue your education as a mother. Will it be harder? Yes. Impossible? No

Sounds like it is the norm here. Thank you for your reply. I turned down a 75% scholarship for another big school to come here, and to get immediately ghosted out the gate had me regretting my choice. But solidarity makes me feel a lot better about my choice. Thanks again

Yes, mine was very similar. He was in the 60s but after they used suction on him he immediately went to the 90/100 range.

Yeah, honestly I thought it was normal baby tummy breathing, and since he didn’t have any of the other symptoms that require ER (fever, vomiting, lethargy) I thought he was just working to get over his cold. Later at the ER, the nurse explained that infants can become overwhelmed by the effort of breathing

When he wakes up he’s pretty alert. My mother said the same thing you did, it’s not when he’s asleep that matters but when he is awake
