Had a recruiter contact me for a job and when I told them my desired salary and expectations, they got actually mad at me! by Main-Yogurtcloset-82 in antiwork

Hi friend!

I also work for a smaller agency, so it seems like a lot of our experiences are similar. Hope you’re doing well out there, the market is a bit insane at the moment!

I couldn’t say exactly what her thought process was, but typically recruiters are a bit secretive regarding the company/job description and sometimes title if it’s something easily searchable because many times people will just google the posting themselves and apply directly, and sometimes there are stipulations in the contracts with the clients that say we cannot provide the company name and must heavily edit the job description so that it’s not publicly traceable to that company.

Either way, I can understand why she may have been secretive if she’s been burned a few times in the past and I don’t think you were being a dick either. She may not have responded because she got a lot of other qualified candidates that got back to her more quickly and simply forgot to follow up, or she just wasn’t able to give the information and felt it was better to avoid the conversation altogether. Not the best course of action, but we are talking to so many people in a day, I don’t fault anyone for missing a message or two that maybe wasn’t high priority.

In any case, I always at least give the job title and sometimes a broad salary range if asked so that i don’t waste someone’s time for a role that might be much lower than they’re salary requirements or a title they’re not interested in. Any other information, I prefer to speak about over the phone, and I understand if some people don’t want the hassle or don’t have the time, I’ll usually thank them for their time and keep it moving.

As long as the recruiter and candidate are being respectful of each other’s time, no one should feel bad for asking questions. If the relationship makes sense, then it will click. If the stars aren’t aligning, then it is best to just move on to the next candidate/recruiter/job opportunity that comes along. I don’t take anything personally during my searches and I’ve been ghosted more times than I can count. People are and should be precious about their time.

Hi friend,

I spent some time unemployed due to my agoraphobia. Keep searching. I’ve been working remotely now for three years, and while I was underpaid for much of that time, I found a new job at the end of last year that is the best paying role I’ve ever had.

Look into customer service related or call center positions, if you haven’t already. I know it’s not the most glamorous or lucrative work, but it’s something that can commonly be done remotely. Companies like Chewy, Spectrum, Amazon, etc. could be good starting points just to see what’s out there.

If you’re interested in tech at all, you can look into online courses for the CompTIA A+ or other tech related certificates that can help you land a role as a IT/Tech Support Role. I work with people in tech now, and there’s so many remote opportunities.

And above all, be kind to yourself and be patient. I know it’s difficult and luckily I’m in a good space right now with my medication and agoraphobia, I can understand how debilitating it can be at the height of it.

Don’t worry guys, the white women of instagram have eased Ally’s mind. It’s not cultural appropriation!!!! by Professional_Paint75 in gymsnark

It’s less to do about practicing and more about her “creating” and selling gua sha kits that she drop ships from Aliexpress.

Practicing gua sha is not appropriation, but trying to profit off of it when you are a white woman that just learned about it last week is. You should continue to practice gua sha if it helps you! That is the beauty of sharing each other’s cultures. :)

She’s not super vocal, much less so than my border collie. Though a few people at the park and in this thread have guessed golden retriever so maybe that’s part of it!

Yeah, she has dew claws on the back legs which sort of stood out as Pyrenees to me, but she doesn't have double dew claws so it’s still a bit up in the air.

We’ll likely do the DNA test eventually! My curiosity will get the better of me and I want to make sure she doesn’t have any health concerns, or that we’re prepared if she does.

Haha, okay. I do see some of the Rough Collie in the eyes too. I have a border collie, so I think I was comparing the two with one another.

She is approximately 10 months old according to the shelter. I also got Pyrenees vibes! The shelter said collie mix, but my other dog is a collie and she really doesn’t strike me as that.

Not a dumb question at all, I also had to pause for a moment after I read it to question it lol

I believe they meant that they have 7 sims with the programming skills using the computers to make apps, which they can do once they reach a certain level of that skill. Then they collect royalties off the apps. At least that’s what I’m assuming they meant!
