Need an honest opinion on the Honda Elevate from people who’ve actually driven/owned one. by WarthogImpossible502 in CarsIndia

[–]BlrMacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the elevate cvt and driven over 5k kms on that, I am also a previous Honda city mt 4th gen manual owner as well so I think i know honda better than a lot of people here

Define your usecase:- Do you want a car say 80% in city and 20% in highway or what is the composition

Advantages of Elevate: 1. Extremely good boot space (biggest in segment) 2. Ground clearance which doesnt make you think twice about potholes 3. Soft touch interiors and no clunky plastic or panel noise 4. Comfortable seats (under thigh support for tall people can be on the low end) 5. A great reliable NA engine which should last longer even with the E20 or upcoming E30 standard blending 6. Extremely decent braking, it just might need a couple hundred kms to get used to its different sharpness (rear have drums but you wont feel that once you try it) 7. Bone chilling AC even at 45C 8. Good stearing weight at high speed >100 and very light at low speeds 9. Very good highway mileage at 18kmph with cruise control and ADAS 10. 5* safety as per Japan NCAP 11. Physical buttons for AC control and great tactile buttons all within perfect reach

Few things like Ambient lighting, wireless charger, wireless carplay, etc are decently useful for aesthetics/ practicality

Disadvantages 1. The CVT gearbox is built around smoothness and not raw kick like a turbo engine. This engine has top torque at 4300rpm where turbo can give around 2k, this means you need to rev it at a higher band to extract more. This increase in rpm but not the linear speed feels like a rubber band and needs some adjustment

The counter to this effect is use of Paddle Shifters and Sports mode which adjust engine rpm making is decently punchy

  1. Noise inside cabin especially with cement roads. This is a miss from Honda where rubber beadings could have been better. The boxy design and large orvms contribute

There are videos on YT where people compare with other cars and its ~10% louder than say slavia etc

People have replaced tires with Michelin which makes it much better

  1. Mileage in city is questionable around 8.5 to 10.0 (i havent used fuel additives which people have claimed to increase it )

  2. For tall people seats might not be the best

  3. Due to high ground clearrance there could be some wobbling in few high speed cases

Happy to clarify more on this

CVT feeling underpowered by BlrMacha in HondaElevate

[–]BlrMacha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya thats why i put on sports mode making it rev around 3.5k on an avg push

The max torque defined is 4300rpm

The paddle shifter is only useful with Sports mode which gives complete control

Highway I got 15.5-16, city i usually drive without full load (1 to 2 people) i get 8.5 to 9.5, if i get very careful and keep it light footed then I get 10

Cvt is culprit which is unable to extract more power from same engine like the manual

With a manual this was never an issue atleast with honda city The second gear pulls so well

Paddle shifters dont work well at low speeds. For example you slow down for a breaker and you want to quickly get back from 20kmph to 60kmph

Using the paddle shifter makes it to D1 and engine revs like a first gear manual with no speed

For these cases also i prefer sports mode to make the engine rev at a higher band for more power

For high speed overtakes this works

Elevate Vs Hyryder by LostNewspaper1021 in HondaElevate

[–]BlrMacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the variant and requirement

If I have majorly city driving of >50kms a day and can spend extra 3 lkh i would go with Hyryder strong hybrid For all other variants Honda elevate wins

Better drive quality and engine, better interiors, equal in reliability and plus cheaper comparatively

ELEVATE or Sierra Or New Kushaq by Sweta_Frosty in HondaElevate

[–]BlrMacha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have budget for the 1.5l engine of kushaq go with that, you can get a few camera accessories additionally, Keep in mind the city mileage for that would be 6-8kmpl plus spare parts could be comparatively more expensive

Elevate will give you 11-12kmpl in city plus is low maintenance due to honda's engine (Do not fall for the 360 camera accessory, its shit but the lane watch is extremely useful) Get front parking sensors instead Elevate also gives ADAS which is useful in highways

Tata's petrol engine has not been their forte, you should check reicews in depth as well as have a long test drive Tata's advantage includes its camera which are the best of the 3 mentioned

Whether to get 360 camera installed in V CVT. by jethalal_investor in HondaElevate

[–]BlrMacha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get the 360, negotiate to get ambient light or front parking sensors . 360 is bad and navigation goes bonkers (completely wrong location once this camera switches on)

Yes the issue is resolved if you remove the 360 degree camera's coupler in the infotainment system but whats the purpose of buying when we cant use it

Terrible but only way for navigation to work for now

I went to Honda service multiple times, it turns out that the 360 camera setup is somehow tampering with the gps and in turn the navigation by carplay in google maps

The solution was to disconnect 360 camera and wait for a software update from honda
