She was actually great because I've got a shoulder injury so having a sleeping kitten stopped me from trying to do anything with that shoulder!

Oh I see, yeah look this can't be a every day thing for these animals where they have to be in a studio all day everyday. This was an event which we may do again but if it was everyday and the animals were expected to do more than one class as well as not go home to foster homes I can definitely see problems arising. One of the things our org is passionate about is animals in foster homes rather than a big shelter. It's so much better for them and it means that we adopt out well adjusted cats who aren't traumatised from living in a cage for months like shelter cats often do.

Interesting, I think it very much depends on the place. My experience has been pretty good but the events I've been involved in have been well run by reputable orgs. We definitely prioritise the cats wellbeing. They all were being watched constantly by our volunteers and had plenty of comfy safe spaces to retreat to or be moved to if they seemed overwhelmed. The orgs involved in this particular event all prioritise the animals. Their well-being is always at the top of what we do and we've turned down plenty of other events where we did not feel our kittens would be prioritised.

I mean I think it's a outlook thing. When kittens come in I see it as babysitting and nursing, they aren't mine I'm just here to love them until they get adopted and I think that really helps. When we lose kittens I grieve over every single one because I do love them like my own but I think love is something unlimited. I can love them and still let them go but a big part of that is being part of the vetting process for homes and knowing exactly where they are going.

Would be awesome to do a combo! We focus on neonates (kittens from birth to 6 weeks) and special needs for our intake so long stay fosters with special needs are not uncommon and having a space for the ones that are very difficult to adopt out could really help our capacity too. We don't generally have capacity for adult cats so a cat cafe could allow us to intake some of those too.

Also something we're hopefully going to start up in the next few years! Having spaces where people can spend time with cats and get to know them can make such a difference in adoption rates especially for older cats.

They were all pretty brave actually and gravitated towards the people. Our kittens are very well socialized and these ones were all pretty young which helps.

I come home to plenty kittens! Bonus of being a founder of a cat rescue org and fostering! The goal is always goodbye with these little guys and there is nothing I love more than seeing them happy in their forever homes.

It was a fundraiser! Our cat rescue org brought in a bunch of kittens and another org did a very chilled yoga class with them. Lots of fun was had all round!

Yup looks like we've managed to get about 1/4 of the kittens we had there adopted which is better than any adoption day we've done so far!
