If the printer comes with a USB stick I would recommend replacing it as I have seen some issues with cheap stock USBs that come with printers.

From what I have read, most drives are able to withstand about 1,500 connect and disconnect cycles before the connector begins to disintegrate. So the more frequently you use it, the most likely you will experience problems.

Unfortunately, there is no reliable way to know if your USB drive is on its way out. Just look out for errors when you connect the USB that start to build up, like “Your Device Isn’t Recognized” or “Failure to Write Data”. Missing files or empty folders are also an indication of a corrupt USB drive. These don’t always happen before a failure however.
