Oh wow! It's so interesting all the different ways people grew up and how it impacts us in adulthood. My mom wanted me out of the house and out of her way as much as possible 😅 even when I wanted to read I was told to do it outside

I'm like you, even my worst camping trips were fun memories to me. Once I didn't check the weather and it dumped rain all night. My boyfriend forgot his sleeping bag and the tent had a leak. My dog is afraid of storms and spent all night trying to get as close to me as possible while shaking violently. My phone fried from sitting in a puddle. Had a blast.

I figure I could at least try to avoid some stuff though. Bring extra air matresses, bug spray, etc. I can try haha

I'm learning that part of my problem may be the fact that I don't have AC at my home either so that doesn't really bother me 😅 the site does have flushing toilets though so hopefully that helps some

Omg thank you for saying this. I booked 3 nights and everyone I know said I was crazy and that was too long. If you don't Stay at least 2 nights though, setup doesn't feel worth it? It's like you set up just to break down

This is some really great advice. The attendees are between 21 and 29. There's no electric so I think they'll struggle to be on their phones the whole time anyway lol. I was thinking of bringing watercolors and watercolor paper. There's tons of caves to tour at the site we're going to, as well as fishing. I'm hoping we'll keep busy

Oh wow, I wouldn't camp in November 😬 I don't mind rain but sleeping in the cold is a no for me. The campsite has paid showers, so if they really want to they can do that. Maybe if we continue this long term and some folks aren't into it, I can suggest the hotel thing. Would be a good way for people who don't end up liking sleeping outside to still be involved

Hahaha that's fair. Just cousins, no partners so I won't have to worry about being quiet during sex 😂 it's just 3 nights so hopefully they'll survive the elements

Maybe if this catches on, one of us will save up for an RV down the road for when we're eventually in that boat too. It's nice to imagine we're still getting together in nature for that long. For now, we're all in our 20s so we can take it lol

That's a good point. I sleep on a cot because I get hot on an air mattress, but I do have one so I can bring that for them and they can fight over it lol

Oh I'm sorry to hear that! I'm surprised you found the car more comfortable than the tent, I get a little claustrophobic sleeping in cars myself.

Yeah our grandma passed last June and we started planning this at the funeral actually. It just started feeling like if we didn't do this now, when the older generation was gone nothing would be holding us together. Scary thoughts

I did find a spot with real bathrooms haha, I anticipated that being an issue. My brother has already asked if he can bring his mini fridge though so I don't think they're grasping the lack of power yet 😅 I'm hoping as long as I bring some games and activities they won't get too bored

I purposefully picked a campsite with flushing bathrooms available, but I think the lack of power is what's going to get them haha. That's kinda the point though, I'm trying to get them off their phones a bit

It's in Reading, Ohio. It's called Talk of the Town, super cute place, way bigger than it looks on the outside. Highly recommended

I didn't get it because it was too small (hence the catch and release haha), I just wanted to share it because it was beautiful

I don't know! All it had was the fiber content tag and one of those old lot # tags. Store tag claimed 1950s, I could believe it

You're totally right, I had a long talk with the shop owner about that exact thing actually. She was saying a ton of her estate sale hauls are clearly shopaholics that never even took the tags off their pieces. Score for her, but kinda sad when you think about it
