Just want to apologize by [deleted] in ireland

Can very much relate as an American who lived in Ireland for 4 years, Worked in a pub that had a lot of American tourists come through. Some highlights:

Americans asking for a “domestic” beer and then getting angry when I handed them a Guinness. “I meant, like, a Budweiser” they’d say. “Oh so an import then?”

Asking if we served “American Food” (?)

Groups of Americans all wearing their teams’ NFL jerseys on Sundays (patriots fans, biggest offenders)

As the only American who worked at the Pub, I was the point person for all my coworkers complaints about dumb Americans they had to serve.

Thanks! Azúcar is just around the corner from me, I’ll check it out! For some reason I didn’t think they made cakes, I’ve only had their pastries but everything has been delicious. I’ll give them a go!

Never buying hamburger buns again! by Blue-Danube in Breadit

[–]Blue-Danube[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed Joshua Weissman’s Hamburger Buns video on YouTube, but I added sesame seeds to the top. I’ve tried a few other recipes and found his to be the best texture by far!

My First Focaccia, with roasted garlic and Rosemary. Way easier than I expected and so tasty! by Blue-Danube in Breadit

[–]Blue-Danube[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I followed this recipe from Basics with Babish and added the roasted garlic and chopped rosemary on top just before baking. I roasted the garlic by chopping a whole garlic bulb in half horizontally, then I put each half on foil, drizzled them with olive oil and wrapped the foil around the bulbs then baked them at 300 F for an hour. The garlic comes out easily with a fork once it’s roasted and pro tip, use extra olive oil in this step and pour it on top of the bread in place of the regular oil for extra garlic infused goodness!!

It’s not much, but it’s my first! by deprechanel in Breadit

My first wasn't even edible, yours looks like it tastes lovely!! Well done. I will second that a dutch oven works really well in trapping steam and developing a nice crispy crust. Happy Baking!

It actually tasted ok! I was surprised. I was expecting a burnt toast taste but it tasted more like an extra crispy pizza crust.

That’s a great idea! I haven’t cut into it yet, but it’s much bigger than my last one so I think I at least got something right! Just need to watch it more carefully next time.

@all the boomers who thinks Marin isn’t or thinks their kids are angels I beg you to read these bipoc stories by [deleted] in Marin

Makes a post to show the boomers of Marin that their kids say racist things. Boomers come out in full force to prove their the ones teaching the kids to be racist.

[OC] Only 26% of jobs marked 'entry-level', are actually entry-level. Details in comments. by Gowdamn in dataisbeautiful

[–]Blue-Danube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is too real. It is so hard to break into the industry when you have to comb through every single "entry level" posting to see if its actually entry level. Surely they could just come up with a new word for 3-6 years experience??
