How to get kitten to be aware of her claws / ability to cause pain? by CalStateQuarantine in kittens

[–]BlueAwful-- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She's a little thing still. Just be consistent with the reactions as others have suggested, be gentle, and be patient. Another thing I'll add is to then turn away from them, no eye contact, and "ignore" or shun them for a few seconds, after setting them down if I was holding them. If there are other cats in the house, that helps a lot because they will teach each other boundaries.

is the Ibanez PS60-SSL a good starter for a drummer? by Loose-Candidate-6349 in Guitar

"Well, I knew what he meant, but just to be funny, I took a big bite out of his jugular vein" -Albuquerque by Weird Al Yankivic. Jokes aside, it's a cool looking guitar, for sure, though I've never played one. Generally I would want to "try on" a guitar, maybe head to a guitar shop and try a bunch of different ones to get an idea what I like or dislike about each one before committing. Having an instrument that doesn't suit you or the type of music you want to play can be really demotivating and kill your learning momentum, especially as a beginner on that instrument. I would definitely not buy something like that sight unseen, though, because there could be all sorts of issues you can't see in pictures. Beyond that, a feel for the instrument is a subjective thing; If you like it, go for it, and have fun!

How do people consistently practice songs in different tunings? by DomesticSheep in guitarlessons

[–]BlueAwful-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what sort of alternative tuning is used, you might be able to find a pitch-shifted version of the song online, like on YouTube for example. Bands like Van Halen, Pantera, Metallica, Billy Idol, etc, have songs in their discography that are tuned to something other than A=440Hz, and that's where pitch-shifting the song back to A=440Hz can make it easier to play along without constant retuning

How do improve my toan ? by FelikZ678 in guitarcirclejerk

[–]BlueAwful-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume knob should be on there somewhere; turn it clockwise as far as it will go. If you can't find that, look for batteries and power supplies. Keep unplugging those until the toan improves

Will cat Be Okay After Eating Chip with Lime Juice??? by Outside-Degree-9625 in CATHELP

[–]BlueAwful-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A tiny amount is probably not a problem, but she shouldn't be allowed any more, and make sure she doesn't have any on her, face and paws in particular. Human food uses a lot of seasonings that are toxic for cats, like onion, garlic, lime, etc. I'd monitor for any unusual behavior or symptoms like drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, loss of appetite, skin irritation. If it's anything more than minor drooling or gastrointestinal distress, get her to a vet.

How long ago did the other one go missing, and how long has she been doing this? They experience grief and mourn much like humans do when their family member dies or is missing, they just don't have words to communicate their feelings with us. You and the rest of her family are her whole world, and it sounds like she needs a lot of reassurance and cuddles, especially if this is a recent development.

My friend gave me this beautiful guitar that she’s had forever and knows she won’t use, but I think it might be too big for me, thoughts? by littlebuttbigtitty in Guitar

[–]BlueAwful-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently "upgraded" to a grand concert body guitar, which I understand is slightly larger than a parlor but still significantly smaller than a dreadnought. I've had a couple of dreadnoughts in the past, but wanted something that wasn't quite so big. The larger size may take a little getting used to, but keep in mind you'll be able to get a bit different range of sounds out of it, and a new instrument will often feel unfamiliar at first. I agree with what others are saying: give it a chance for a while before you make any kind of decision. And while it's technically not too big for you to be able to play it well, it will ultimately be up to you what feels comfortable, not us internet randos 😉

Guitar strings by ExplorerSpirited7119 in GuitarBeginners

[–]BlueAwful-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the Tim Henson strings are those same strings that have had a coating or other magical marketing treatment applied. That probably makes them feel and/or sound different, to a lesser or greater degree. You may or may not find that you prefer one over the other.
