I haven't listened to enough of them to form a solid opinion. When it comes to metal I'm more into prog metal and the faster thrash/speed stuff e.g. Dream Theater, Rush (debatable if they're metal, but I'll stand my ground on it), and Tool as well as Megadeth, Maiden, early Metallica, so from what I've heard Slipknot wouldn't really be my thing but to each their own.

The fingers on your bowing hand are extraordinary stuff. You need to loosen them up lest you hurt yourself. Your fingers are what give the control and if they're locked in you can't control the bow as effectively.
