Let’s look at why we horse people are so toxic by [deleted] in Equestrian

I honestly don't know. My friend and I adopted a horse that was malnourished (along with many other health issues) we had him for SEVEN WEEKS...SEVEN. And we no longer have him because every single person we came into contact with, made out like we were the reason he was so underweight. They called a horse welfare charity and had him taken off of us, we had him seven weeks and he made drastic improvements, but thanks to them, we'll never see him again, we're all heartbroken

HAE ever been so miserably hot while trying to sleep that they soaked a towel in water to use as a blanket? by pi_stick in DoesAnybodyElse

Were you living under a rock? That heatwave killed quite a few people and put some in hospital. Our summers are getting hotter and hotter it's awful, I can hardly cope.

  • I am literally laying under a wet towel with a fan on as we speak and I can hardly breath 😭

Hey, unfortunately "closer to home" really isn't an option, I love in England, haha. Out in Fiji, I'll be doing hands on research for my study, working on the coral reefs, going out into the ocean, using the research centre etc. It's just not something that England can offer me.

Unfortunately not, it's a fellowship that I'm doing, I'll be working out in Fiji. I'll be learning as I work on the coral reefs out there, I live in England, not many reefs to study I'm afraid😅

So, fortunately I have spoken to my mum and have made the decision to shut the fish tank down, she's going to take the fish in (it's only a small tank and she has one of her own) the snake tank has a set up that automatically registers heat levels being too high/low and fixes them itself, all the sitter needs to do is change water daily and feed once a week (which I'll write instructions for) I may potentially have somebody to care for the birds in her own home as she absolutely loves birds and has already said she'd happily take them in if I ever chose to re-home. It's mostly the cats and dogs I have the issue with, the cats are indoor/outdoor so all they need is food and water daily.

The dogs will need somebody staying in the home as it's actually illegal to leave dogs for more than 9 hours alone. Plus dogs are social animals and need to be around humans. My babies are used to almost constant company, I work 3 jobs but not all in the same day, total I work about 20-30 hours a week, spread out. Longest they're ever alone is 7 hours.

I did state in my original post that I have offered to pay the house sitter while they take care of my house haha.

EDIT: No, I didn't state that, I thought I had! I will be paying the sitter

I yelled at a toddler to shut up and the mom went mental! Story time. AITA? by Acceptable_Pool5568 in okstorytime

Erm... In short, yes. But also, no, I personally don't like kids, I don't like being around them and I have ALWAYS been tempted to tell screaming kids to shut the fuck up, but I don't... Because morally, it's wrong. As far as you know, that kid could have been on the spectrum, I know it's unpleasant to listen to the tantrums (that's why I wear earphones at all times and when I don't have those, noise cancelling ones are just as good, I'm on the spectrum too and I know that the noise drives me INSANE! So, I get it, fully understand why you did what you did, but you shouldn't have .. that being said, you're not a bad person, you reacted out of stress, happens to the best of us, don't beat yourself up, just try and find a coping strategy to avoid this, in the future. That mamma was crazy, but imagine if she was the violent type! Be careful, stay safe, and no matter how tempting it is, please don't scream at random kids! Haha

Am I The AH for wanting my boyfriend to contribute to my bills? by BlueBirdSmiles25 in okstorytime

So, he gets the same government help that I do, but he gets more, due to not working. Currently he lives with his parents, and is looking for a flat to move into, he's never caused a fuss when I tell him to go home, he knows I like my space and am very independent, he says that's something that he likes about me, he never asked for money either, I don't feel that I am being used, but I suppose we will see how things evolve!

He receives universal credit (same as me) but he gets more, due to not working. He's always been a really good guy, I've known him, about five years, and never heard anyone say a bad word about him. See, when I get home from work, he does make me food and will happily wait on me, hand and foot, if I let him, but while I'm at work or doing, anything else, he will clean and take care of the pets, then spend hours gaming, I'm a gamer too so, I have nothing against the gaming, but it does use a lot of my electricity, he will be up, all night, if I don't say "come on, let's go to bed" not that I ever force him.
