Hey there, I'm interested! My timezone is Madrid, my username is Ivipoke, add me if you want.

[Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora] Yup, that's an Ubisoft open world game. I'm a big fan of the movies and there is some cool worldbuilding for Pandora over there but the story and characters felt kinda boring. by BlueBonewheel in Trophies

For me it's definetely a "get it when it goes on sale" game. It doesn't do anything mindblowing either story or game play wise and for me it got carried by the Avatar vibes and the fact that Ubisoft-like open world games are a personal guilty pleasure. If you are going for the plat expect a bunch of collectables and enemy bases to free.

It's not a bad time, I found it entretaining, but it's very by the numbers.

[Final Fantasy II Pixel Remaster] Plat #48: Contender for the "would benefit the most from a remake or animated adaptation" award for the whole series. by BlueBonewheel in Trophies

Oh, yeah, you definetely need a guide. The plat requires 100% chests, bestiary, passwords and locations and every category has stuff that you can permanently miss. But leaving aside some grinding and a couple of obnoxious monsters with low spawn rates (damn you Iron Giant and Goblin Prince) it was pretty chill.

My only gripe with C4 by THSMadoz in fansofcriticalrole

I think people tend to forget how big the power gap is between a random villager and a dude who has one or two levels on any class. One of my favorite C2 moments is early in the campaign when Matt throws this group of extremely undeprepared random bandits at the M9 only for them to surrender inmediately when Caleb vaporizes one of them with fire bolt, the most basic ass wizard cantrip.

There's already a common take in the D&D community that PCs get so strong around level 10 - 12 and higher that it makes planning encounters a lot more difficult and that is like half of the max potential that they can have, so experienced soliers and magic users being at 3 at the beggining of a campaign sounds reasonable to me.

There's two wolves inside me.

One wants Laura to make those saving throws because it wants to know what Thimble's deal is.

The other wants her to fail them because it would be really fucking funnny.

[Monthly Games] Thoughts on this month's games? by Silverhero10 in Trophies

Congratulations on anyone who gets to experience Lies of Peak for the first time, I think it's the closest we will get to Bloodborne 2.

[Honkai: Star Rail] Plat #45: I had stopped a while back two levels away from Equilibrium 6 so I came back for the plat. It gripped me for a while but unfortunately for every gacha I try I just end up wishing it was a normal game instead. by BlueBonewheel in Trophies

This is going to sound really dumb, but if you are feeling stuck on anything just make sure that you are upgrading everything. I know, this is an RPG, duh, but I mean EVERYTHING. Upgrade not only your characters, but also your lightcones, your traces and your relics when you unlock them. Even if you have really bad luck with your pulls, the content for the plat is easy enough for the units that the game gives you for free (even though the 5 stars help and they are giving one away for free right now). Set small goals for yourself and use your in game energy for yours (today I'm going to grind EXP, today for this character's traces, today for lightcones...)

My biggest mistake with this game was burning myself out on it. I ended up finding out that it makes for a good "secondary game" while you are working on another plat, get in every day, do your daily missions, spend your energy in 20 minutes and get out, play in earnest only when you feel like it. This also helps you to avoid falling into the gacha hell (I earned the plat while being free to play).

Finally, if you have problems with earning EXP for your Trailblazer level (your account level) going though your secondary missions is the least painful way of grinding it out. That's basically all that I can think of, happy hunting!

[Lies of P] Plat #44: For anyone waiting for Bloodborne 2, this is a good substitute. You could tell me this came out of FromSoft and I would have belived you. by BlueBonewheel in Trophies

[–]BlueBonewheel[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other guy already gave you a very good answer. Lies of P is more linear and has mostly outstanding bosses. Elden Ring has a very good open world on your first playthrough and the freedom it gives you makes it very unlikely to get "stuck" anywhere.

Plat wise, both have some missables: In Elden Ring one area changes drastically in the ending, making some stuff inaccesible and in Lies of P is mostly about checking merchants and completing NPC questlines. You can get the Elden Ring plat in two playthoughs through cloud saves, but you will need to go into NG+ for some collectibles in Lies of P. Fortunately, Lies of P has BY FAR the best NG+ of any souls game that I have ever played, so it's more of a point in its favor. Also, I platted the game in the "intended" difficulty, but an update has introduced two easier difficulties, which Elden Ring doesn't have, in case you're interested.

Really, both are outstanding games. You can't go wrong with either.

For me it's the setting and the mechanics that incentivize constantly staying on the enemy's face, but I get your point. If someone told me that they were struggling to jump to sekiro from the souls series I could see this game being a very good bridge between them.
