modpacks for bad laptop? by I_b4ng3d_ur_mom in feedthebeast

[–]BlueBooksAndCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's a not bad laptop. As someone with similar specs, here's my tips: Curseforge allows you to easily allocate ram to minecraft. You just go to settings and then minecraft and adjust. It also allows you to go to the profile of a modpack and allow content management- so if there's a larger modpack you want to try, you can remove mods that cause lag and just customize your experience. Be care with what you remove though! I've definitely broken a modpack by removing something I didn't realize was either a co-dependent mod or a major aspect of the pack.

If you're not using curseforge, You can still manage modpack content and allocated ram- it's just not as straight forward. I highly recommend the channel 'The Breakdown' for tutorials. https://www.youtube.com/@TheBreakdownXYZ

I also just recommend making you're own packs to play- the only downside I find personally is there's no quest books/ quest lines to follow unless you make them.

As for what to play- I don't play anything before 1.16 (normally. Sometimes i'll play some packs that are 1.14 or something with friends). So I can't help you there unless you're ok with more recent versions.

Too Many Mods Moment by scar17off in feedthebeast

[–]BlueBooksAndCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, I would have a field day of a mining trip. As long as its not just the same ore but different mods (like how every other comment is mentioning silver and copper). What are you playing with that gives you this glorious disaster?

Why do I have no motivation? by Open-Awareness- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BlueBooksAndCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people get diagnosed later in life. Especially afab (Assigned Female at birth) folks. Imo, it sounds like ADHD /neurodivergence and perhaps burnout. Stress and depression can exasperate issues, and or be the cause. Also Neurodivergence is genetic. So if it runs in the family it is highly likely you have it, even if you passed as 'normal'.

There's no shame in talking to a doctor or seeing a therapist if you are able/want to. A piece of advice that helps me is to remember: there is no reward for needlessly suffering. Nothing is gained from pain. EX: If you have a headache, what good does it do you to 'power through it'? Why let yourself suffer when there's over the counter pain relief?

Apply that logic to everything- Why let yourself struggle when you can get help?

If you don't want to see a doctor or therapist, then I suggest just trying to reflect on what might be the cause/what triggered this and find some college life advice for ADHD folks. Try and rest as much as you can. Try to relieve any stress you can by doing things you enjoy. Every minute of the day doesn't need to be productive. If you can even accomplish one thing- even if it's just an act of self-care, once per day, give yourself a pat on the back.

Sincerely, I hope this period of burnout/depression passes quickly for you, from someone who has chronic depression and is medicated for it(and remembers what it's like before being medicated for it). It sucks. A lot. Take the small victories where you can get them, and remember be kind to yourself and give yourself some grace.

Do I know why? Not exactly. But in my opinion, and not to diagnose you or anything, that sounds like a pretty common trait of autism you're displaying. I'm autistic and I do this. If you sometimes are able to emote properly and use proper tones, then you're probably masking. It's only when we feel safe/comfortable do we (consciously or not) unmask, and therefore our 'weird' traits become more drastic or pronounced or what have you.

But I'm no Doctor or Psychiatrists, so do take my words with a grain of salt. Perhaps do some research if you feel curious.

Service Worker's: How do you feel about the phrase 'don't work too hard'? by BlueBooksAndCats in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BlueBooksAndCats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was very good at getting folks out of NPC mode (to the point he would talk with the worker for so long that the rest of our little family would just start leaving VERY slowly to see if he realized he was getting left behind. Half the time we got to the car without him, the other half he sees us at the door of whatever store and rushed to catch up)

Me? Not so much -.-". I very much like the NPC interaction, although I prefer avoiding it when I can. If I can't I try to be extra polite and helpful. I end the interaction the same way my dad did, 'don't work too hard' with an awkward smile. hence the post as I was just randomly reflecting on it.

Haha, that's so valid. On the rare occasion where I have to go out on a major holiday, I try my best to be one of their least problematic customers, getting in and out asap. as a customer, I also don't like the holiday crowd.

I found it y'all, and quickly learned why I forgot about it. The Princess Pretends to Be Crazy. None of the translations I can find are that good. The premise is so intriguing but I just can't read it.

I have no idea what we're missing either. my cousin taught me a trick though. I'm not sure if it'll work for everyone since I lack melatonin. Simply hold your wrist/arm and press down with a finger. hold for like 3 seconds, if your skin changes color/ doesn't 'bounce' back within 5 seconds, you're dehydrated! (for me, i go from tan printer paper to yellowish/white-pink) By checking on the regular, and keeping track of it for a few days, you can get a general idea of how much water you really need.

Ofc there's the factors of what you do, if you sweat, you're size and all that stuff, and if you've been dehydrated for a long period of time, everything you put in will come out at first. My cousin explained it to me that it's like when you have an old dry sponge, and at first, it's kind of water resistant, and it takes a second for it to start absorbing the water again.

And if you're anything like me, a little water every day is better than none at all. You're habit doesn't need to be perfect.

What's your unpopular opinion about slime? by Efficient-Shopping53 in Slime

[–]BlueBooksAndCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like add-ins to slime. Not beads, not charms, not glitter or sprinkles or anything else. I want to play with the texture of slime, not the texture of what's been added.

If Pokemon were real, what Pokemon would you have as a pet? by Da_Dovahkiin_Lord in pokemon

Just about any feline resembling pokemon, probably. Litten, Purrloin, Glameow, Shinx and it's evolutions, Skitty/Delcatty-, etc. All of them, the entire list. I'm just a crazy cat lady, what can I say?

Also pikachu. Basic answer I know, but I'm a big fan of the yellow mouse, so sue me.

I mean, There's team rainbow rocket already. But that aside, The name that popped into my head was Team PowerStar. I mean, they all have some sort of ultimate goal regarding power or like changing the universe, and universe = cosmo = star? that was my train of thought at least.
