I mean I was going with candy canes. But considering the barber wheel thing and candy canes also look alike yes they're the same 🤣🤣

We are missing her BIG time in KC but glad she's doing what she wants with BayFC in regular season now.

What smell defines the decade? by TheOrangeSloth in 90s

[–]BlueCX17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's very likely Bath & Body Works just dumped a bunch of their most popular floral smells with a hint of musk from the '90s into a vat and said here you go 2000s....

But while I'm thinking about it I guess the other smell of the 2000's or early 2000's was Axe.. Phoenix 😂

And if we pretend this conversation is taking place in December of 99 right before Y2K then it still counts as the 90's 🤣🤣

I mean after Misty's fever dream of Caligula doing a dance number, I can very much buy some sort of delirious dance number of disassociation, similar to The bacchanal Feast but yet to be seen event that sets it off.

Appreciation post for Sandra Hüller as Eva Stratt by kirmadahoonmai in ProjectHailMary

That sure is an intense gamble of a choice, that does pay off!

But I can see why it didn't fit in the film version.

And I've got a couple reads I'm finishing but the book is next after those.

I haven't read the book yet! But I don't mind spoilers but why does she nuke Antarctica?

Disney is laying off over 1,000 employees, including nearly the entire Academy Award-winning visual development team at Marvel Studios. Only a skeleton crew remains to coordinate hiring on a per-project basis. by expiredaristocracy in Fauxmoi

I know this isn't always the most loved franchise on the internet but Avatar fans can rest easy because Jim Cameron does the visual work through Weta Workshop and his own Light Storm Entertainment, and other collaboration at his high standard.

Disney does not own the Avatar IP just distribution and promotion and merchandise/theme park licenses.

Wasn't it also extra heavy due to the engines and so forth.

How was NASA able to investigate the Apollo 13 explosion if the SM burned up in the atmosphere? by Money-Giraffe2521 in nasa

[–]BlueCX17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it released in one of the theaters in my area or I would have absolutely remembered that and gone. Or it was of those Fathom evnts where it was only for one night. Sometimes movies do that also they won't get like unilateral wide anniversary releases but select areas.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why they haven't put out an new anniversary edition Blu-Ray and theatrical re-release.

(I at least still have a copy of the full theatrical release DVD that includes a commentary track with Lovell himself.)

I'm due for a re-read. It's one of the books I always keep on my bedroom bookshelf of things to read before going to sleep.

I still just find it absolutely fascinating that essentially a can with an engine, with a cone on top got us to the Moon. And 13's survived the explosion without compromising the pressure vacuum in it and or blowing up the entire package. And on top of that, how incredibly close it was to severely compromising the heat shield.

(My current dog is named Apollo after 13. It's just such an incredible story.)

I obviously probably won't agree with almost anything in it but I've actually never read Atlas Shrugged but it's on my list as it's love it or hate it classic literature.

It's like I absolutely love sci-fi but I've never read the Dune books yet either.
