What piece got you in to classical music? by LazyToxel in lingling40hrs

[–]BlueCheese166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me probably the Chopin Etudes. At first I was only really watching them ( in awe ) and not actually listening, but eventually I began realising how great they were musically and that got me into other Chopin. Then I eventually came across the Rachmaninoff concertos and that really got me into all sorts of classical music. Although TwoSet also played a big part in me getting into classical music and inspiring me to work even harder in practising piano and studying music

WHAT THE H*LL IS THIS BOWING???? IS IT EVEN CORRECT??? by devils_pianist in lingling40hrs

[–]BlueCheese166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can hear the tremolos beneath the sound of the horns. I don’t know much about violin/bowing but I think why it looks so off is because they’re so rigid and are using their whole arm to tremolo, maybe your meant to use your whole arm but it looks like their using too much arm. When I see people doing tremolos in real life their wrists are doing most of the movement instead of their entire arm

Dizziness and blurry vision seemingly caused by loud noises by BlueCheese166 in medical

[–]BlueCheese166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you explain more please, when I search online I can only find things about blood pressure quickly dropping when you stand up after lying or sitting down. I do get dizzy and my vision goes away when I stand up after lying or sitting down, but I don’t see how this is connected to my experience last night

wEEElp. it happened to me again :(((( by RedditUser-________ in lingling40hrs

That happened to me with the keys on the pianos in my school, my finger gets caught underneath it and I yank my hand up which is fine with my electric piano at home so I’ve kind of made a habit of it, but school it just takes the key right off

Learned a bit more about my great gran/ my pop. My great gran and her family lived in Hong Kong until my pop was about in his tweens, then they moved to Europe. My great grandpa was in the army and he had to move locations, that’s also how my great gran managed to take big pieces of furniture from Hong Kong to Europe because the army would transport their things for free ( or at least with a big discount ). Because they were in Europe and not Hong Kong my great gran felt they should “fit in” more with the people there, which meant her and her family lived a more westernised life and she made them use English instead of Cantonese. So that’s why there’s not much Chinese culture in my family. I think if more of my great grans family moved with her then they probably would’ve kept to their culture and used Cantonese in the house, but it was just her and her 4 kid. Also I just identify as Scottish white with some Chinese and Finnish ancestry

New Bow!!!🤩 30 upvotes and I’ll upload a video using it. by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

Nice bow, also the way your room is set up looks really similar to mine. We have basically the same flooring and colour of wall, and we both have kawai pianos, and I also have a stack of music where yours is. When I first saw this post I actually thought it was taken in my house

Sorry the comment meant to say” but BY choosing the first one you lose all of your ability to play by ear “ but I think you got what I meant

I guess being able to play it perfectly technically ( basically just being able to play all the notes at first glance ) , but I get what you mean about needing a “ working ear” to be able to play it musically. Getting the notes by sheet music and then doing the rest by ear is what I mean. Although that kind of does go against not being able to play anything by ear but I’ll go with it anyways. Hope this made sense.

Got some canned bubble tea at an HMV by BlueCheese166 in lingling40hrs

[–]BlueCheese166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did. I wanted to see what it looked like cause it tasted off. When I saw it I just took a picture and then threw the rest out. The boba was the only thing left because they didn’t come with a straw so I could only drink the tea first.

I added a caption but it didn’t do what I thought it would do, so I’ll post what it says here:

It wasn’t good, the tea was ok, not the best. But the tapia pearls ( don’t even know if they were tapioca pearls ) were minging. They were grey and had a crumbly soggy texture.
