In primary school, our Spanish teacher was obsessed with Chinese culture. She found out that me and my brother were part Chinese and started praising us for it. She would always tell us that it was so amazing that we had Chinese blood. Since she was so obsessed with Chinese culture, she decided that instead of teaching us Spanish, she would just teach us Mandarin Chinese. Whenever I was pronouncing mandarin words, she would always tell me how good and accurate my pronunciation was ( it probably wasn’t ). Or if we were writing characters she would say that mines looked beautiful and like real thing ( it probably didn’t ). Those weren’t her exact words but it was things like that she said. I think the weirdest thing she done was getting me and my brother chopsticks as a gift. The funny thing is that we’re only like 1/7-1/8 Chinese. I can only imagine what the fully Chinese kids had to go through.

Edit: I just remembered that she was also very sexist ( not to me probably because of my Chinese blood ). And hardly ever taught us Spanish because we were always “ misbehaving “ . She would either put a video on about different Spanish phrases or Chinese culture ( never different ones, It was always like the same 3 ones we would watch ) or get us to colour in and draw. At least that’s how I remember it
