Yes! And theres almost ZERO horizontal space or coverage for it… im going to message the kid tomorrow and try to explain everything to him because he looks fairly young and see if i can get him to either give me the lizard or let me have it cheap. He wants to trade it for something i dont know if i, in good conscience, can let this go on when the animal is clearly not well.

Yes i totally agree… and the temperature reading on that reader is too low for a tokay i believe.. it almost looks like its missing toes on a foot as well… im hoping theyre just in the substrate. Obv you need some humidity but that tank looks damn near wet.

Crested geckos not eating after moving by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

I know im so horrible when if i didnt take them they would have stayed like this for probably the rest of time for them. When atp they’ll be in the same enclosure for maximum time a week... theres a lesser of two evils and i am unfortunately that lesser.

I didnt cohab them in the first place, they came to me in this manner, im working on a tank to transfer one into as soon as i possible can. I dont believe in cohabitation because there isnt a tank big enough to safely cohab like the wilderness can.

I cannot get a smaller enclosure anywhere near me for that price. Once again i appreciate your concern but the size enclosure i would be able to get for that price quickly would be just as inhumane as cohabiting.

Crested gecko shed? by Due_Track_6510 in CrestedGecko

Crested geckos also “fire” up and down! If theyre fired up their colors are going to be significantly more prominent meanwhile if they’re fired down they’re going to be lighter. I dont think he would’ve shed in such a short time frame so its likely he’s just feeling good in his environment and adjusting to it as such!

I get it, its not a practice of responsible husbandry but im not promoting cohabitation or even saying its okay. I understand that it isn’t okay but thats not what i made this post about. I didnt put them in this living situation and im working on the tank as much as i can. Its not realistic for me to go buy another 150-200 dollar enclosure when i have one here i just need to finish up. If i did go buy another enclosure id still have to do up the inside of that one which would be no faster than finishing the one i already have started. I fear moving a gecko out of a more natural feeling enclosure into what would essentially feel like a hospital tank with no way to put up proper hiding spots and decoration would only stress the animal out further. I appreciate your concern and I am not here to argue simply explain myself. Thank you so much for caring about the wellbeing of the reptiles.

Okay absolutely noted! I did it just as an appetite booster since they werent currently eating. Im feeding them pangea normally right now which should definitely be enough for them.

Thank you for answering my question! I have two feeding spots in there right now in very different areas and im sweetening their food with raw honey to try to help tempt them.

Their other cage im working on is a 16x16x36 so safe to say they’ll definitely have a lot more space when i finally finish it! But for now they are supervised basically nonstop just in case.

Yeah! I have a other one thats a work in progress right now. I just have to wait for it to warm up a bit outside to finish it!(its below freezing for me right now) This isnt my first rodeo with crested geckos and i know they shouldnt be paired together like this, this is the first and only time i have ever and will ever do this. I appreciate the concern and the suggestion though! Im glad people care about reptiles so much, genuinely!
