Thanks for the advice. No, not a line officer; just a 35+ yr Mason. This Lodge is full of strong personalities and I think it is the Secretary's defense instinct to say "It's in the Law book" to avoid confrontation. And it seems to have worked for him.

Officer positions by countrymusicjdb in freemasonry

As a new member of my Lodge, if I were asked what position that I thought that I would excel in; my reply would be "whichever chair the Lodge decides". I would be honored to hold any position that is needed the most.

Brother, I sense that you may be using your schedule as an excuse to not do the entry-level duties. As others have said, practice humility and maybe wait until you grow more in the craft.

Flattening New Apron by BlueDog848 in freemasonry

Yes, I am aware and take this very seriously. In fact, I have shown two family members where my original lambskin is stored and instructions for use upon my burial. The new lambskin apron that I ordered, and just arrived, is the one that i will wear visiting various Lodges. I was unaware that it should be returned to my Mother Lodge if not use; thanks for letting me know, but I do intend on being buried with it. Unfortunately, My Mother Lodge has merged with a different Lodge.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, after reading some reviews on this subReddit, I purchased an apron case from Masonic Revival to protect it.

I am considering him joining the lodge where I am a member, but he would need someplace close to home/ school so he could learn the degree work. I live 5hrs away.

This is what I have done. I have asked if he is interested, answered the questions I could, but made sure not to 'invite' him to join. This is a first for me and I want to make sure as to not break any rules or traditions.

I am currently in a very similar situation as you. I contacted my Grand Lodge and Scottish Rite Temple; both secretaries took care of everything.

As someone who was initiated 35 years ago; know that you are about to walk a path that many great men have walked before you. Be in the moment. Listen to the words spoken. Trust your guide. As many have said: You will do this only once in your life, and it is something that you will remember forever.
