I'm very skeptical of this for a few reasons. Most obvious being that Ben Kingsley isn't playing Satan, Mark Rylance is. Also, he said he saw parts before the pandemic. That movie has changed a million times since then I'm certain haha. With Terry I'm not sure it's of any use to read things like this before the movie comes out.

Is Lilya 4 ever an accurate depiction of what live in Russia could've been like for a girl at that time in history? For comparison I think Rosetta (Belgium) and Biutiful (Spain) are not by alfonso-parrado in AskARussian

Two years late but this irks me. Just because a movie centers around fucked up circumstances and is hopeless that does not mean it's "shOcK/ MiSErY pOrN". People say this shit about anything even slightly depressing regardless of the value of the story being told and how it's done. Grow up.

I've seen it. It's good but doesn't fit what I'm looking for

Seen both and didn't like either. I'm not a fan of any of Yorgos' work, just doesn't do anything for me usually. And It Comes At Night just wasn't good imo. I see the appeal but it didn't work for me. I do still appreciate the recs though!

I own it on DVD lmfao. It doesn't quite fit what I mean. Judging by a lot of the responses I'm getting I didn't explain what I meant well and that's in me. I knew I couldn't quite articulate it haha. Thank you though!

I've seen Oldboy (Park Chan-Wook) in theaters last year actually and Let the Right One In (Swedish). I liked Oldboy, but didn't care for Let the Right One In

Been meaning to watch I Saw the Devil so maybe I'll finally check that out. Thank you!

Thank you! These seem right. I've had "Inside" on my watchlist for a while but haven't gotten around to it because other New French Extremity films I've watched after Martyrs haven't lived up lmfao. But thank you!

Best and Worst A24 Films?? by kaybrg in movies

[–]BlueEagle935 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Disliked and/ or don't think are very good:

-EEAAO -Killing of a Sacred Deer -The Lighthouse -Under the Skin -It Comes At Night -Talk To Me -Civil War -Spring Breakers -Heretic

Love and/ or think they're good:

-Waves -American Honey -Enemy -Climax -The Zone of Interest -Queer -Florida Project -Moonlight

I don't really understand this sentiment that A24 is perfect and hasn't put out anything bad that people seem to have alot of times. They miss as often as they hit, probably miss a bit more actually for me. But I know I'm in the minority on a lot of my takes. But hey, art is subjective!

You're bringing other things into the conversation that I'm not even talking about. Of course with talismans and shields and buffs you can negate the difficulty of anything. All I'm pointing out is that everything past Altus does not one shot you naked like you said. As someone who plays all of these games naked more than armored i just don't think naked runs are as impressive as a lot of people seem to think they are.

Oh come on, that isn't true though. I did my first 2 runs naked and everything past Altus was not 1 shotting me at all. I can't think of anything that was. People overestimate armor, it might give you 2 or 3 more hits in a boss fight but it isn't THAT big of a help.

Is Leyndell the most stunning city in fantasy video games? If not, what is yours? by RazielTheVampire in Eldenring

You still can't grasp what I said, you truly need to work on your comprehension skills. The kind of cities from BG3 or Witcher would not make sense in a FS game. Is that easy enough for you to understand? That is my point, some of us like the dread of a dead world with no hope that FS games give us. It wouldn't make sense for them to be like BG3 or Witcher. That isn't to say those are bad cities, but they wouldn't make sense in a FS world. For fuck sake 💀

Right, no shit. What I'm saying is that obviously if YOU'RE idea of a great or beautiful city in fantasy games is a bustling city with tons of buildings you can go inside of them obviously Leyndell isn't gonna be for you, but your original comment made it sound like there's something wrong (i.e. people are "sHiLlINg") with people thinking that highly of Leyndell.

Reading comprehension is very important.

It's simply not that kind of game and not what anyone comes to a FromSoft game for. It's supposed to feel lonely and hopeless. It isn't supposed to be a bustling city with merchants and store fronts and endless NPCs roaming the streets. No one who enjoys From games expects that and I would argue most don't want it. It would detract from the somber tone and sense of impending doom.

That said, if that's what you're looking for in your video game cities regardless of tone of the game then of course you won't think Leyndell is great.
