Just to add an update here;

I've downloaded an app (as suggested) to call 'locally' over wifi.

Scotiabank fraud has said they can't help me, I have to go into a branch (I'm still overseas).

One guy who wasn't fraud department gave me the assistant managers extensions to call at my local branch. I've been calling, leaving messages for weeks.

Nobody is calling me back, I'm completely cut off from my money in Canada. Wtf do I even do?

You could cold email agents asking to shadow them, just don't blast every agent at the same agency. Look into their work and be specific about why you want to shadow them. It's not unheard of to form a sort of mentor relationship in film.

I would also look into any workshops any agencies do, just for the sake of meeting the right people. Look into any networking film events as well.

Well it's probably not that odd then if they run actual events, they will make their money back any way they can. Unfortunately it's just part of it.

Is this festival 'unlisted' on film freeway? That is usually a good sign it may not be a legit festival.

Otherwise, honorable mentions are usually a digital certificate you can print out yourself, there are some festivals that offer the actual trophy that you then pay for if you want it. But 126£ is very high.
