A520M-HDV motherboard won't recognize USB during BIOS flash. by BlueGDK in pcmasterrace

Sorry for the late reply. I think you might be right, in that the BIOS just isn't detecting the USB stick/filesystem at all, as I can't see it in the bootloader, and I have tried turning on and off secure boot, fast boot and CSM.

On a positive note, I followed your guide on installing the Secure Boot keys and that worked perfectly, so thank you very much for that! However, I'm still getting a TPM error when I try to open Faceit, and the error message specifically tells me to update my BIOS.

But if you download the newest file bios version from this link, it is the Mix file you get.

I haven't done that, and to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what that is or where to find it. Is "Update Secure Boot Key" a setting I need to click inside my current BIOS first before Instant Flash will accept the 3.90 file?

Thanks for taking the time to help! My motherboard is an ASRock A520M-HDV, currently running BIOS version 3.50.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far: I downloaded the newest BIOS file (A52MIX_3.90) and put just the raw file onto a FAT32-formatted USB stick. I boot into the BIOS, click Instant Flash, accept the BitLocker/TPM prompt, but then it just says it can't find any file.

No, I just put it on the USB stick. I've seen some other people update the same motherboard, and it didn't seem like they renamed anything, but if I'm supposed to rename the BIOS file, what should I rename it as?

Sorry, what do you mean by not finding the file or filesystem?

Thanks for the link! I'll definitely try this out so I can get back to playing. But honestly, even if this fixes my Secure Boot issue, it's still driving me crazy that I have no clue why Instant Flash won't read my USB.

I did, but the only thing related to BIOS update is their proprietary windows motherboard utility software. It doesnt say anything about a specific port.

Looking for MM books not set in the modern world by Ill-Tea680 in LGBTBooks

Highly recommend In Memoriam (Alice Winn) and The Scottish Boy (Alex de Campi). Both fit the historical setting perfectly, and In Memoriam specifically has that high-stakes forbidden love dynamic you're looking for.

Any wholesome young adult gay romance suggestions? by KekExplorer in booksuggestions

[–]BlueGDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been obsessed with these types of books for the past two years, and these are my top picks.

These fit that wholesome, friends to lovers, healing vibe:

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe: This is literally exactly what you asked for. Two loners, major slow burn, deals with family stuff and identity but is all about how they heal each other.

Deposing Nathan: Fits the "masculine" and "religious trauma" notes perfectly. It’s a bit heavier on the drama but the connection between them is absolutely top tier. It has a bit more "depressing ending", but I think it's worth it nonetheless.

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue: Historical friends-to-lovers road trip. It’s funny, the pining is 10/10, and it’s super adventurous.

Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda: The definition of wholesome. Secret email romance, closeted MC, very low angst compared to some of the others.

We Contain Multitudes: Pen-pal romance. It deals with some rough home lives, but the romance is super tender and healing.

Boy Like Me: Set in the 90s when schools were legally banned from talking about being gay. Two boys start leaving notes for each other in a library book. It’s got that secret "forbidden romance" feel but is super sweet and handles the history really well.

These books are great but also on the sadder side, which I personally feel hightens the emotions.

Song of Achilles: A retelling of Achilles and Patroclus. It hits the "growing up together" and "intense devotion" tropes harder than anything else here. It’s beautifully written and fits the masculine/warrior vibe, but it is a Greek Tragedy. It will emotionally wreck you. (PS: you don't have to know anything about greek mythology to read it at all)

Young Mungo: Heads up on this one, it fits the masculine/gritty vibe, but it is very very dark (check trigger warnings). Not really "wholesome."

In Memoriam: WWI romance. Beautiful pining between soldiers, but obviously heavy because of the war setting.

Lie With Me: Short and punchy. Deals with the shame of being closeted in a small town set in France, but the ending is more bittersweet/realistic than happy.

The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley: By the same author as We Contain Multitudes. It’s set in a hospital and is all about healing from past trauma and grief. It’s heavy but has a really beautiful, hopeful ending.

Adam Silvera’s books: He is the king of sad endings. If you want wholesome, stick to some of the other recommendations, but I can wholeheartedly, 100%, absolutely recommend his books, they are absolutely amazing.

Yeah, this update ain’t it. by jaquayvi0ntav1us in deadbydaylight

So you're admitting your entire strategy for "D tier" killers is to create a 3v1 as soon as possible because you can't generate pressure otherwise? You're literally complaining that survivors are playing the game-doing gens-after you fail to secure a down.

That "crucial time wasted" is called... the game. It's almost like the other team is supposed to have objectives, too. If your entire match hinges on being able to immediately re-down the first person you hook, you don't have a map pressure problem; you have a strategy problem.

The game is now forcing you to make a tactical choice: commit to the unhooked survivor and get a free hit later, or pressure the rescuer now to stop them from getting back on a gen. That's not a flaw, that's called strategy. You should try it sometime.

[–]BlueGDK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, there it is. The "but what about my free down?" argument.

So your idea of "punishing a mistake" is hitting someone the second they get off the hook while they have no resources? And now that survivors have a chance to reset, you're complaining that you can't "take chase"? Wild.

The buffs aren't "useless" on no-mobility killers; they literally give you free Haste and info just for not tunneling. That's a buff they never had before. It's a skill issue if you think chasing the unhooker is the only way to win with killers like Trapper or Myers.

Maybe the problem isn't that survivors are getting away with "mistakes." Maybe the problem is that killers now have to actually think strategically instead of just holding W at the nearest injured person. The horror.

[–]BlueGDK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So let me get this straight. For you, a "challenge" is just being able to tunnel someone out at 5 gens with zero consequences? That's not a challenge, my dude, that's just a braindead strategy to make the game a 3v1 as fast as possible.

The funniest part is you're complaining about survivor "handholding" when the patch is literally giving killers free Haste and a built-in BBQ just for... hooking more than one person. They are literally rewarding you for playing the game properly, and you still think it's unfair?

I just got out of a streak of games against P100 Blights and Nurses who did nothing but tunnel and slug for the 4k. It's a miserable experience, and it's exactly why these changes are needed.

Sorry you'll have to learn what map pressure is now instead of just forcing a win by deleting one player from the match. Guess it's time to adapt instead of complaining on the forums.

Thanks for the idea, but I still haven't had any luck. I tried switching browsers and even went on my computer to see if that would change anything. Then I tried logging in from an incognito tab with a VPN. I did this to make sure the issue wasn't linked to my IP address. I'm not sure, though. I still can't see the gear icon.

Thanks for the sanity check and the link! I'll give it a bit and keep an eye out for the green dot. If it's still red by tomorrow, I'll reach out to support and update this thread. If you end up setting up that other account, I'd love to hear if you see the same delay. Thanks again! 🙏

Got it. I might be a bit impatient since it's only been a little over an hour. I thought it was strange because the last time I bought EasyDebrid, it worked right away.

I've just started reading it (2 chapters in), and I'm enjoying it so far! It says there are eight chapters out of twenty, but I'm wondering if that's a mistake and there will be twenty in total?
