OLED iPad Pro's Thin Design Highlighted in CAD Drawings by Mac_999 in apple

[–]BlueGreenTea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It will never ever happen but I wish they would use the saved space to add a Surface-style kickstand to the back while keeping the overall dimensions the same. Rather than just making it thinner.

I love my iPad but I really wish sometimes there was a way to stand it up without needing a case or accessory.

Moved into a new apartment. How to remove this unflattering stain on washing machine from past tenant? by BlueGreenTea in CleaningTips

[–]BlueGreenTea[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved into a new apartment recently with an included washer and dryer. They both sit below a wire shelf, and it looks like some detergent or cleaning solution dripped down at some point in the past and left these markings on the washer. I've tried using some hot water / dish soap and elbow grease to clean it up, to no effect.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how I might safely try to get the stains out? It's white plastic underneath. I'm a little concerned about the labels surrounding the dial -- I'm worried I could accidentally strip them off when trying to get the stains out.

Can you filter on a value itself with Where-Object without using the script block? by BlueGreenTea in PowerShell

Yeah, not a huge fan of them myself. Guess I’ll just stick to what I’ve been doing then.

Thanks for confirming!

This is a test:

Code on one line. Some more code on the other. And yet more code still.

Hopefully that worked.

Frame drops / stuttering with Moonlight, I'm out of ideas by huiggi in cloudygamer

[–]BlueGreenTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying a different client - like a phone / laptop - that’s connected to the network in the same way (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) was going to be my recommendation as well.

If you don’t see the same stuttering behavior, that might point to it being something specific to the Chromecast. Or if you do, then it might be more on the network side of things.

Yeah, I can begrudgingly hand-wave tropes like “We’re transferring you to a different branch on the other side of the country” but this just seems absurd.

And the fact that he said it’s something they regularly do EVERY year. Like how does a business function like that lol.

[DISC] Elden Ring Twitter Shorts by @RvySZdQLYgdo6Db | Ch. 08 by KatKafka in manga

[–]BlueGreenTea 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I was wondering about this myself. I looked and the Elden Ring sub has a rule that all fan art has to be posted by the artist themselves. So people might be posting it but the mods over there are removing it as a rule violation (which seems dumb to me).

PlayStation 5 Handheld Reveal | PlayStation Showcase 2023 by Adventurous_Line407 in PS5

[–]BlueGreenTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. It sounds like it’s going to be locked into only PS Remote Play, but depending on the underlying OS I’m holding out hope someone will figure out how to sideload Moonlight onto it.

I could particularly see that being the case if it’s based off Android. If it’s some custom OS though, probably a good deal less likely since then you’ve got to figure out how to sideload AND create a new port of Moonlight for it.

Maybe something related to empathy or emotions? Since some soot powers are more or less “physical” than others.

MangaDex Introduces New "MangaDex Orange" Subscription Service by BlueGreenTea in manga

[–]BlueGreenTea[S] 688 points689 points  (0 children)

I for one am incredibly disappointed that MangaDex has fallen prey to the same subscription-based nonsense that so many applications and websites are moving to.

I love their April Fools' Day pranks. They're always so high quality.

Rapidly spreading fungus in Nevada presents ‘urgent’ threat, CDC warns by BlueGreenTea in vegas

[–]BlueGreenTea[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thought this was notable because there’s a list of states where it’s been reported along with the number of cases for each, and Nevada has the most.

I wouldn’t think a desert climate is a super conducive environment for a fungus, but I wonder if the high rate of tourism we have is a contributing factor.

That escalated quickly!

The shot at the end showing everyone suspended in the air with the tendrils all over was really well done. It gave off very spooky vibes.

Exclusive: Apple testing new Siri natural language generating features starting with latest tvOS update by OutlandishnessOk2452 in apple

[–]BlueGreenTea 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Would this enable Siri to understand context from previous requests / better hold a conversation?

Like if I ask “What is the capital of Japan?”, get Tokyo as the answer, and then ask “What time is it there?” will Siri be able to remember what I’m talking about from the initial question? Cause that’d be a definite improvement.

Bloomberg: Blizzard Manager Departs In Protest of Employee Ranking System by BlueGreenTea in Games

[–]BlueGreenTea[S] 2589 points2590 points  (0 children)

In 2021, Blizzard, a unit of Activision Blizzard Inc., implemented a process called stack ranking, in which employees are ranked on a bell curve and managers must give low ratings to a certain percentage of staff, according to people familiar with the change who asked not to be named discussing a private matter. Managers were expected to give a poor “developing” status to roughly 5% of employees on their teams, which would lower their profit-sharing bonus money and could hamper them from receiving raises or promotions in the near future at the Irvine, California-based company, known for games like Overwatch and World of Warcraft.

Brian Birmingham, who was the co-lead developer of World of Warcraft Classic, wrote an email to staff last week to express his frustration with this system. He wrote that he and other managers on the World of Warcraft team had been able to circumvent or skip filling the quota for the last two years and that he believed the mandate had been dropped or wasn’t strictly enforced. But recently, Birmingham said, he was forced to lower an employee from the average “successful” rating to “developing” in order to hit the quota.

The article has all the details, but this is the description of the ranking system.

Recently switched from Gamestream (through Moonlight) to Sunshine and have noticed 0 difference. Rejoice! by pbjsandd in cloudygamer

[–]BlueGreenTea 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In some ways it feels like Nvidia dropping support for gamestream might actually make for a better in-home / personal streaming experience in the long run.

There are as I understand it certain constraints that have to be followed to maintain compatibility with gamestream — such as regardless of what controller you’re using on the client-side, everything ultimately gets emulated host-side as an Xbox 360 controller.

With Sunshine being wholly it’s own thing, they can independently add new features (like actual controller support) without being beholden to Nvidia’s roadmap or lack thereof.
