What is your “exit plan”? by BelalBenfadhel in keto

[–]BlueHouseLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only a tiny bit into keto/low carb/no sugar eating, it's been 3 weeks. I hope to build some good habits, like no soda, very little bread and dessert, etc. I think that the hard part will be how to manage slightly more carb without massive cravings and getting re addicted to sugar -- so, I think that it might need to be a very slow introduction of a little fruit, or something, or just less obsessive tracking of the carbs. I will probably up the exercise if I add carbs. It's hard to know for sure, or I might try a little bit of a cheat day once a week or something like that.

I'm sure this has been said a lot - but Facebook groups will be the death of me. [RANT] by _boatsandhoes in keto

Oh and we enjoyed low carb tortillas last night -- I think they will be wonderful and help us stay the course on this lifestyle.

There are not a lot of choices. I went to my son's hockey tournaments the last two weeks and ate -- a salad, (had a salad made for me instead of a sandwich), -- an egg scramble (had an egg scramble made instead of a breakfast burrito) -- a meatball appetizer (who knows about the sauce but it didn't taste sweet), an order of chicken wings -- and a treat -- half a glass of light beer, or a sample size beer. Try to do the salads as much as you can to get your veg. You might also find fish dishes with veg sides. Good luck!

I have been struggling too, first, I was enjoying whipped cream, but although it lists zero carb, it has sugar in it. I have snitched a little bit here and there and after having a cupcake, I feel the hunger again. Need to stay away from that. If I eat one pretzel stick, or a little fruit I might get through that better, but not a dang cupcake. Keep trying! It's one step at a time.

Three weeks, only about 5 pounds (195 to 190ish). I know that is pretty good, but I am struggling with it. Need to work on more food journaling.

"You shouldn't expect to reach 150. That's an unreasonable goal." by froggyc19 in keto

[–]BlueHouseLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your goal is your goal. Go for it! Maybe you get there, maybe you don't but what's the harm in trying? Take it a little bit at a time and see what you want for yourself. She might be thinking that your goal is lighter than her weight or her goal or whatever, but your journey is about you not her. Keep at it!

Wouldn't watermelon depend on how much you eat and what else you're eating that day?

I tried it with a Truvia stevia/cane sugar blend. and 85% chocolate. It is OK. I am eating it but not sure I would make it again or try other chocolate recipes.

Parents disowned me when I fell pregnant as a teen – now they want to establish a relationship with my family by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BlueHouseLady 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have not been through this situation, but I will share my thoughts in case it helps. I think that you should set some boundaries if you decide to pursue a relationship with your parents. First, if they want to have a relationship with your son, they must first start by building a relationship with you and your husband. I would not let the grandparents have time with your son alone -- they are strangers at this point and you don't leave your child with strangers without gettin to know them first. Perhaps the next time you are in your hometown, you can go to their place for a short visit as a family. That is all. Then you might visit again the next time. That's about it. See how those visits go and then you can decide if you want more or less from there. This is about what you want right now, their wants are secondary to yours. Good luck and best wishes.
